Jump on Showdown, practice your battling in the Halloween Party ladder, and get gud. And even if when you get beat on Showdown, remember that the majority of those in this event probably aren't on Showdown to begin with and won't play as optimally as the serious folks. You'll do all right.

I don't know, guys, I think it would take some serious nolifing to slap together a ghostly team in two weeks. Sorta wish I came out from under my rock and heard about this sooner, but do you think it'd be easy for a novice breeder to get a team put together, including building, breeding, training and finding items, in just two weeks' time?

I'm thinking a TR team with Gourgeist and Jellicent as the main setters to counteract all the Gengar we'll be seeing. Also, Infiltrator AssVest Spiritomb seems like an okay answer to it, TR or not.

You can get most of the relevant Ghosts mons easily in the wild or in Safaris (all legal ghosts except Mismagius and Jellicent), so a few days of breeding will get you the team you want. Going on /wfg/ like the other anon said is wise, as is getting a 6IV Ditto. Tried-and-true breeding tools like Destiny Knot, Power Items, and Everstones will get you the team you want in a few hours per mon.

Gengar would be "better," but Banette would catch many off-guard, particularly in a Trick Room setting. 165 attack plus near-perfect SE mono-attacking coverage is nothing to sneeze at.

I feel Shadow Sneak is better Priority due to STAB and the fact it doesn't care what the opponent is throwing at you. Personally I like full Jolly, but I haven't run the calcs lately against the most likely threats.

What have you come up with, if you don't mind sharing? After thinking that up I'm a little afraid about fighting it, now. My answer is 0 Atk IV Sableye with Taunt and a Lum Berry. If you're lucky, you can win the speed tie and get Taunt off before Swagger and shut it down, or get it off after the confusion gets removed by the Berry. In the latter case, you can pop off a Will-o-Wisp before subbing out to another mon, or change straight away into something like Spiritomb.

I think I'll pass this time. The fairy competition was interesting but it isn't fun anymore when you're about to win and the other player suddenly disconnects. It happened to me like 6 times and I didn't even receive any point from those matches. If the opponent disconnects it counts as win, right?

It's randomly male or female, and it's always super size (obviously).
It's ability is also randomized between all 3 possible abilities: Pickup, Frisk, or it's hidden ability, Insomnia.

It's level 50, comes in a Cherish Ball and holding a Rocky Helmet.

Moves are:
Trick-or-Treat (no idea how Nintendo thinks this will be useful for the upcoming contest)
Astonish
Scary Face
Shadow Sneak

It will not have your OT or ID, so it will be easier to breed and train than Pumpkaboo you catch yourself.

btw, does anyone know if you can breed Pumpkaboo in Cherish Ball if you get it as a female?

Nope

Currently XL + HA pumpkaboo is only legal if it's in the original cherish ball or a pokeball

Spiritomb is going to be huge in this since it hits every ghost apart from Sableye and itself for SE damage

Currently I'm thinking of
AV Spiritomb - Nothing in the tournament that's legal can OHKO it, with the right investment it can avoid a 2HKO from Mega Gengars Dazzling Gleam and beat it with Sucker Punch/Shadow Sneak
Colbur Berry Gengar - I don't even know what I'm doing with this right now. I'll probably change it to Scarf, Specs or Mega
Sitrus Berry Gourgeist (or Lum since Sableye will be pretty popular aswell) - Kinds stalls shit out with Leech Seed and Lum lets it avoid burns and Swagger, Sitrus keeps it around longer

It outspeeds the occasional SpeedySlash sets which are going around and OHKOs every ghost

Overheat is just for guaranteeing it can OHKO some ghosts like Sableye which I think Sdef sets can just survive a Shadow Ball
