visual-wise, I kinda like it.
but it would be nice if the middle east part of the city connected to the western part trough a more direct route

i don't think putting the center near the mart looks well aestetic wise, but it sure is handy

there need to be more than one surface entrance to a town, imo, but it ooks like a fort town so meh.

It's probably just the color scheme he used for it.
Normally in Pokémon games they just use dark blue/purple for black things. But here all the roofs and the top of the wall around the town are more or less completely black which kind of creates in illusion of the city looking really dark.
It probably wouldn't be as noticebale in game but I really don't like it from this point of view.

This looks more like it was done with rpg maker + pokemon essentials
either way mapping roms is a bitch, I'd start with pokemon essentials to get your bearings
also daily reminder tripfagging is for fags

and you'll be limited to the tilesets in the rom, because adding tiles into a rom is a bitch
Where as pokemon essentials is a breeze to start, easy to add new tiles, and isn't plagued with issues and difficulties as far as mapping goes
