The only good CAPmons are Mollux and Malaconda (the artwork is meh but the sprite is really good and I wouldn't be surprised to find that thing in a real game).

I don't think Colossoil fits, there's something off about its size. Fidgit would be better with a clearer indication of what it's meant to be, and Krilowatt is sorta bland.

Nothing is as bad as Pyroak though.

In that case this CAP's goal is doomed to fail. In fact it's already been derailed from "a pokemon that discourages the opponent from KO'ing it" to "something that gives M-Gyarados set-up opportunities"... except they disallowed Dual Screens, Memento, Healing Wish and moves like that.

The name is a play off Colossal, anon, it's supposed to be huge.
Pokemon has weird size skews anyways, if it were an actual pokemon it's probably be 5'5" or something.

Krilowatt is kind of bland but I like it when a lot of fakemon designs like Volkraken or >>21206586 are too complex.

I liked the IDEA of a Fire/Grass subseeder, but I have no idea what's up with that design.

CAP was more interesting when custom moves and abilities were allowed. After that it started to decline and finally turned into complete shit after the Aurumoth fiasco.
Every single CAP after that has been turned into a one-trick pony that is autclassed in a way or another.

It doesn't mean anything because they realized that there is no scenario where KOing an opposing pokemon is bad for you.
This is why the original idea was derailed to "something that lets M-Gyarados sweep".

The most obvious thing you could make with this concept in mind is a suicide lead with Aftermath. This idea was brutally shot down in the early develpment stages because it was too "uncreative". But then after brainstorming for a week or so they finally realized that nothing else could have been made with the existing moves and abilities and since for some reason they refuse to use custom ones now the project has been derailed.
In other words this CAP failed before it even started.

By the way, these are the current stats:

Type: Electric/Poison
Abilities: Storm Drain / (Insomnia/Vital Spirit)
Stats: 60 HP / 57 Atk / 119 Def / 131 SpA / 98 SpD / 100 Spe

Its movepool is still being finalized, but it's going to be very shallow on the support side and it won't even get access to Volt Switch.

I like krillowatt mostly do to its name. Most of the others look like they'd be better in Yugioh. Not because they are bad but because they don't fit the tone of the world. Malacanda gets props because I like its garden of Eden design though.

Not even a suicide lead makes sense because you still want to kill it before it does anything substantial. You don't suddenly want to "not kill it" unless it is complete setup fodder and you want to just blast through the opponent's team, which is the only way I can think of doing; making this thing kind of Chansey-like or something, but even then, you still want to kill the Chansey if it's walling something crucial on your team.

I think that people should've meditated on their picks aside from "that sounds interesting" to "is it possible?" in which both regard recent CAPs have ended in failure.

A pokemon built around phasing. Scrappy fighting type lacking good STAB moves and instead uses circle throw + sub and bulk up to slowly sweep. Sort of like Shuffle Kyube from gen V but more built for the role.

This would have been a much more interesting concept to explore.
A physically bulky electric/ghost type with Water Absorb/Storm Drain and a way around Sucker Punch could probably work.
Design-wise, I have no idea how you could justify such a type/ability combination, though.

That would seem to me like something with a custom ability that throws up a Lunar Dance or shields or buffs when it dies. Or uses Haze or Whirlwind or an arbitrary lasting debilitating effect or something like that. It'd take quite the balancing act even if custom abilities were allowed to ensure that it has the right amount of presence both on the field and in the grave.

If the former, it would also get Magnet Pull. If the latter, it could also get Filter, Magic Guard or Vital Spirit somehow. Or Soundproof

The modified Ferrothorn idea that it would be something that is easy to set up on by many mons and a pain to attack with other mons was a good one. Basically, you could kill it right away or use it as setup bait later in the match.

I think this CAP was successful. The point of these are to learn more about the metagame. Example with Molluz was to find out what exactly makes a typing bad and how can you minimize the weaknesses of a type while magnifying its strengths. With this current CAP, the idea is to find out if there is any reason to not want to faint a pokemon right away. People learned that these situations are pretty rare and situational. That's where the Gyarados hijacking came in. It is trying to force one of these rare situations to happen more often. With Mollux, the result is easier to say it was a success because the concept is easy to pull off and leads to a capable pokemon. The current CAP is very difficult to pull off because to make it so niche, you straddle a line of making a shitmon or making something good in ways unintended. In both cases, CAP learns valuable things about the game, even if the resulting fakemons end up very different.

I remember when this shit was in randoms. In its original playtest it was already OP even against teams prepared for it. But against random teams? Game over. I imagine it must be even stronger now with the ghost type boost in gen 6. No longer have to carry Superpower- you can just spam Shadowstrike.

It's sort of interesting to see what people come up with when they're explicitly making pokemon for their metagame instead of the main game. I like some of the gimmicks, like that one cap who can learn Sketch.

But a lot of the designs aren't that great. Do the CAP pokemon actually have a big impact on the metagame when they're allowed?
