Why don't the main games use doubles exclusively? Colosseum did it and it was actually sort of challenging and engaging.

gamefreak knows people like singles more and that it's more popular, VGC is just doubles because out of all the battle spot megas it's the best balance between speed and competitiveness

This, doubles are the fastest format by far which makes it easier to run a large scale competition.

Running a singles tournament would be bullshit because muh stall takes at least 30 minutes per game.

Time limits would enforce a soft cap on stall strats. Having a 10 or 15 minute limit per battle wouldn't be unreasonable, but the path of least resistance really is to just use double battles which are faster by design.

even with a time limit it still wouldn't be as exciting to watch. Stalling isn't as much of a thing in VGC and most of their matches finish within 10 rounds.

it's better as a spectator sport.

10 minutes are nothing. Unless you're lucky, facing a good opponent requires more than 10 minutes. What's really needed is a time limit to chose what to to. I hate the faggots that start time stalling hoping for you to get bored and quit. I mean, fuck, is that difficult to impose a minute, maybe TWO minutes, and if you didn't do nothing lose for forfeit?
