It depends on what you're using imo

Some people don't want to use Mega Chomp or Abomasnow because they fill different niches when they Mega evolve

Some don't want to use Mega Alakazam because it loses Magic Guard and LO hits harder

I could see it being a similar situation this gen since MegaAboma can't run a Scarf and would need TR to outrun the genies

M-Sceptile may be a bad Mega just by typing alone, but it assuredly won't be as bad as regular Sceptile. Sceptile is NU, M-Sceptile will be RU at worst, UU at best, OU if the stars align just so.

Yes the mega has a small niche, but honestly regular chomp does most things better.

Uh let's calm down, Mega-Scizor is incredible.

Infact it makes the regular Scizor mostly redundant outside of CB.

Alakazam is also questionable, very few people run Magic Guard Zam in OU. (It's really good in UU).

Mega-Alakazam sees more usage in OU, it's a very volatile Mega because of how hard it is to evolve, but grabbing a good ability makes it hard to deal with.

The slight damage loss is typically worth it for a slight speed boost and the ability to go mixed. Most walls can't do much back to you and you're still able to 2HKO most of them.

Sableye and Abomasnow could be good candidates. I see Slowbro swinging between its normal form in OU and mega UU, it looks viable in both forms but in different roles. Another one is Blaziken unless full offensive Mega Blaziken, the normal one can benefit more from holding an offensive item or Leftovers and the ability to pass after nerfing the needed mons, you can basically pass its offensive boost to another mega of your xhoice or a bulky sweeper, Mega Heracross for example.

And yeah Garchomp is also one of those Pokemon, its mega is good but it is that Pokemon that loves support, it does well yes but slapping an item on standard Garchomp is usually a better choice.
