Monotype team thread?
Monotype team thread.

My current monoteam is one from FireRed, where I will be battling by old roomate on his LeafGreen. My team is Flying type. I don't know his and vice versa. Were currently both about to take on the league.
My trusty flight squad:
Aerodactyl
Dragonite
Charizard
Butterfree
Articuno
Gyrados

Personally I'm excited as fuck to battle him with this team, been a breeze so far surprisingly.

Got anything you are working on or currently running? Any good or bad experiences with a certain set of pokemon? Talk to other scrubs here about it.

My gf and I are about to run X and Y again but with mono type teams. She's gunna go with ghost type, including M-Gengar since it's her favorite.
What do you recommend I go as? I've never done these type of teams before.

I'm building monotypes for every type. Doesn't everyone do this? Currently working on Ghost. Fire was just finished up.

I'm toying with the idea of a mono fighting team but I'm afraid I'll just get demolished when I play battlespot

Like what would make a good core for it?
Blaziken, Chesnaught and Poliwrath?

Nope it doesn't.
But I like building teams (even mono teams) with a strong core with coverage just to cover my ass in case I stumble into a banned smogon shit the video game team.

For instance I'd probably have to find a fighting poke that can somehow defeat Talonflame.

But as a general rule of thumb having fire, water and grass typing would let me use this mono team against most other players with ease.

Talonflame is your biggest threat. You'll need a core of two Fighting type that can survive a Brave Bird and preferably one sashed on top of that. Expect a good player to play around obvious sashmons and wear down your team with just the threat of Talonflame. Minor wear on your team makes those two hit KO crutches into OHKOs.

Poliwrath, Intimidate Hitmontop, Bulky Throh Sturdy Sawk, Intimidate Scrafty, Cobalion, Terrakion, Sash-Infernape, Sash-Breloom are fighting's best choices to deal with Talonflame but remember they all will be crippled in the process. Don't go crazy with bulkmons you'll want to hit as hard as possible with everything.

Azumarril comes in as the second biggest threat. All the other fairy types will take massive damage from neutral and super effective hits except Azumarril. Only Skill Link Bullet Seed, Breloom's Bullet Seed with 3 hits, and Toxicroak's Poison Jab/Gunk Shot are your sure fire answers. None of which can take Play Rough well.

Then you worry about the rest of OU/Ubers.

i want to build a mono ghost team with at least:
scarf chandelure, m gengar, jellicent, rotom form, aegislash
For the leftover slot I had in mind either: dusclops w eviollete, trevenant or shedinja.
I might drop aegislash from the team since its so OP

Been going pretty good except when up against fucking Azumarill.
Azumarill fucking sweeps this. My plan to counter it was for my Easy Bake Oven to run Trick / Ability Capsule to null Huge Power in stead of Choice Scarf. Any better ideas?

All solid advice, I'll keep it to heart as I build shit.

I'll probably avoid Hitmontop for now, but I'll try my luck with Sash-Infernape, Intimate Scrafty and Poliwrath.
Toxicroak would be in regardless, love the little fucker.
Breloom seems like a lock as well.

Honestly I have more experience with mono fighting but sure I can give you my take.

Rotom and Shedinja don't really make the cut unless because of reasons. Basically other ghosts can do all of Rotom's tricks better and Shedinja doesn't offer you much while still being weak to super effective hits on ghosts. Their stats are just too low.

Ageislash is really good and worth keeping It can be do well mixed, can scout and punish physical attackers, has Sacred Sword, and priority.

Gollurk has access to fighting moves and Stealth Rock while Frostlass has access to Spikes. Something worth testing, hazards can help obtain OHKO range HPs as well as work in conjunction with status effects.

Sableye is worth a spot as it takes neutral damage from Dark-types (Sableye is arguably better than Spiritomb due to Prankster.)

Finally, Cofagrigus and his bulk is pretty good for your typing. Mummy and Will-o-Wisp can cripple physical attackers. I personally prefer Cofagrigus and Jellicent on my bulky end.

Mono-Ground, my favorite type since Gen II. It's looking like this right now:

I feel like Ground type is underrepresented in-game. There's two Ground-type Gym Leaders and one Elite Four.

OP here, for singles if you can squeeze Stealth Rock on Infernape it will help score some KOs and deal good damage to misc flyers. Cobalion and Terrakion are the other two that can learn it. Fake Out and other priority will help as well. Good luck.
