The attack slammed into Bikke and the pirate backed away a bit, jumping up and grabbing a tree branch. BM meanwhile rushed in alongside his Cacturne, placing himself in the way of the knife slash. There was a slight ripple in the air as he used distortion to cover the ground faster. "Do I ever! Now get out of my way. I'm not done with her." While he attempted to keep the man busy, the Cacturne charged past to pursue the woman.

The papers were Tobi's resignation. He seemed to become more serious after he passed them.

"I've set up my own group far in northern Kanto, we're public, and legal. I took advantage of my change in appearance to make that the case. I'm not going to betray you guys after all we've been through or anything like that, but I can't be your ally either. That being said, we don't discriminate against citizens who need our help, if you catch my drift."

The Cacturne was brought down despite the mage's best efforts, and the Tangrowth was no longer able to keep itself going. The two were replaced with his Magneton, Piloswine, and Ditto. Regarding the next part of the conversation, Tobi weighs in.

"I'd imagine, at least you guys won't have to worry about defending the world or anything like that. I'm sure that will take a lot of paperwork out of your hands, along with the downsizing. I spoke to Archer in Saffron, he explained it all to me."

As Beau signed the papers Tobi fully understood what he just did. After over four years of working for Rocket through all the crazy stuff that happened, and even being the leader for a while, he had finally retired.

"Thanks, it feels really bizarre seeing those papers signed, ever been in a moment that you know will really stick with you?"

Tobi smiled to himself solemnly and spoke back to Beau.

"I changed over the last two years, realized what I had been fighting for that whole time, and what it was I really wanted to do with the life I was given. Technically I was born working for Rocket... Some of my scout leaders came with me and we set up an organization which does research into an array of strange things. We basically give out grants to anyone with a crazy idea who wants to make it happen and provide what we can for their research. Sometimes it's fruitful, sometimes not. I actually had a Pewter Shipping company signed over to me, so I funded it at first through that. If you ever need to look me up, I go by Verdeckt. You'll get the joke when you see my full name if you do look us up."

Tobi nodded before speaking once more.

"You can send guys my way if their business is relevant. I still have my old radio back at my headquarters, so just call me if you ever decide to switch frequencies or something. A lot of the original staff were former Scout, so we have a defense force if it came down to it. Nothing large enough to occupy anything, but our logistics and scouting are top notch. You'll hear from me if you guys have to fight the end of the world again."

Tobi quickly changed the subject off of that matter, he knew it was possible that he could find himself facing Rocket in the future if they tried to steal from his organization, but that would only be a concern many years down the line once the leadership that remember him is gone.

"Right, that one is out of the way for now. You can never fully get rid of a Varnock, but I have some unfinished business with one of them who's still here. That comes after the move though. I'll help you guys out and stay a neutral party to make sure the league doesn't try and hunt you down during the relocation, but that's the extent of what I can do for you now..."

Tobi raised his eyebrow regarding the suicide pact.

"Really? I mean it wasn't that bad, pretty agonizing when I lost the medicine, but I was able to get it under control, it even made me able to compete in a place like Aurora once I got control of it."

Tobi decided to finish the conversation there. He had done what he needed to do and talked to Beau for what might be the last time. He stands up and holds his hand out to shake.

"If I can get a location on them I might go check up on them. The terrorists are a threat I can fight regardless of if I'm in Rocket or not. Your move takes priority for you guys, but I'll finish the job if Mike and Mage can't. Anyways, it's been a really crazy ride, thanks for putting up with me all that time. Beau laughed, "No worries there, I can't see any reason for conflict, what I leave here I plan to keep completely legal unless it's absolutely necessary to use the old ways."

Beau didn't expect a confrontation but he knew that anything was possible, his biggest worry is loose ends and old rivalries coming back to haunt them.

"I know we won't, we're still trying to get rid of what's left of the other one over there much less any here, I mean we actually have a memory clone or something somewhere in the labs, have to admit the guy is a hard one to kill." He nodded. "But that's not our problem now, I hope the league will take the hint and use it to rebuild, we tried to make some contacts with the league with the ex-rocket members but the destruction and constant disruption made it hard... either way thanks for the help."

Beau laughed at the raised eyes. "No really, couple of us planned to just shoot ourselves, old news now."

The idea on how he gained control of it interested him. "Really so that's how you got control of the plates? Well I heard the worst was some people who just lost control of their forms, I guess resisting would cause pain but with enough will I suppose you could just reverse it, which is what I suspect you did, either way good job with it and that place..." Beau sighed, "I went over there awhile to check it out, got a few good deals and some nice clothes. Then got out when I heard the one you all fought got loose again and took Alex out." he grumbled before adding "He got better and I think there's peace now, still I'm not going back anytime soon."

Beau stopped talking and looked looked at Tobi as he held his hand out.
The scientist quietly standing up feeling a weight on his mind as he stood up and walked around his desk.

He paused a moment thinking back to when he first met the guy and everything that happened because of it the scientist holding his hand out also.

"Yes it's been a really crazy ride, I can't believe how far I've seen this place go ever since that day you guys had the Silph Building blown out from under us..." he laughed and then shook it. "Well, it's been fun Tobi, really, no matter what happens from this day forth, you going your own way, Rocket going theirs, other people coming and going, we can at least look back on the good and the bad and smile on what we've accomplished and the times we had."

He let go and bowed a little in thanks before also turning to the ghost and repeating it.

After listening to the last of Beau's comments on the plates and Varn, Tobi shoot Beau's hand, really sealing the deal that this big change was occurring for them.

"You have it right, time and force of will took care of the plate pretty handily. Putting a second one in was a mistake though, I'll likely pay for it sooner rather than later."

Tobi laughed back at Beau's comments about the beginning.

"You're telling me, when I first joined I was just a fake persona of a grunt who spent his time putting wooden boards over holes in the first base. Now I'm leaving a separate person from who I originally was, a fully grown man, and an experienced general and leader. I won't forget what happened here."

Tobi gave a bow as well, he reached for the door before turning back one more time.

"Thanks, have a good life Beau, and if you decide to stick around, protect these guys for me."

Tobi smiled and exited the door, making his way out of the science building and into the Celadon night, one of the last Celadon nights for Rocket.

But it was strange, for a being so used to unhappiness to find himself quite content with his lot in life. Perhaps it came from knowing that his final fate would be a pleasant one after all.

"That went well" he said, gently floating behind Tobi as the two walked through Celadon's twilight.
