Smogon is broken, they have to structure their own metagame instead of using the one nintendo gave them, I got used to their metagame, and it made me lost in the first round. During the next tournament, I used a different team that I used on showdown, and lost to a team of beedrill, spinda, and lopunny. When I asked the people that made it to the finals what I was doing wrong, they said, roughly, that I wasn't playing with creativity or for fun. So I tried doing that and made it to the quarter finals. Figured out what I wanted to do, and now i've made it to the semi finals five times, and finals once, because I think about what they use, and what I use, and plan my moves around that, rather than by pokemon, and it works for me.
It's bullshit and goes against logic, but it works, even though it shouldn't, but really, it is fun sweeping someone that plays by smogons OU style with just an electabuzz.
