Seriously though, I know I can emulate this but I'd just like to have it on my 3DS.

I dunno why Nintendo doesn't want my money. Same reason why I don't get why they don't just put Gen 1 and 2 up on the VC as well. Nostalgiafags would eat that shit up.

Not really. You can get a lot of cards without wasting your money. The difference is, the cards you get with codes are tradeable, whereas the ones you get by going to the shop and exchanging your tokens are not.

Gen 1 and Gen 2 would work better in the "3D Classics" section than the Virtual Console.
It'd be better for them to tinker around with them to allow them wireless trade or something of the sort.

I started playing this for the first time recently.

It's very interesting to actually feel how it is to play with the old cards I grew up with when my interest in Pokémon was at its peak though I never knew how the game actually worked, even if it's virtual. It was interesting to discover how much stage 2 evolutions are generally not worth going for unless you have some cooky strategy. Strong basic Pokémon like Scyther or strong stage 1 evolutions like Arcanine are usually more efficient.

>Charizard can only attack every second turn at best unless you give it a double colorless every turn
>The opponent decides to throw a few Super Energy Removals on you when you play it

Every five days you get a free booster from a random recent/semi-recent set.

You also win 'coins' for battles, and get daily bonus coins, and they can be traded in for theme decks and card packs.

Not to mention if you play a few hours a day you're likely to get 2-5 boosters every single day just by chance, win or lose.

That's one thing I love and hate about Japanese dev.

I know there a free online pokemon card game, and I still buy a pokemon booster pack once in a while, but I only collect the rare ones, and sell the code cards online for a few extra bucks on ebay, so I can buy games.
