Pidgeot can fly at mach speeds, why does it not get Extreme Speed? Even Boomburst would make sense, it is just breaking the sound barrier just the same as flapping wings at mach speeds. That's why Swellow gets Boomburst even though it has shit Sp A, its because it is really fast and would simulate a Boomburst at high speeds.

It needs blizzard, thunder, fire blast and focus blast to be on par with the other gen1 normal types. If the stars magically align and the mega drops its attack/boosts its spatk high enough to be a viable special attacker, it'll be a good mega.

We can cherry pick all day, and it's all speculation on both sides. The Stone Edge weakness sucks, and no one is more aware of that than the game designers and the Pidgeot fans. Thunder and Blizzard suck too but you can't consider them a huge threat considering their current rarity. We don't know what to expect from Mega Pidgeot yet. Boosts to the relevant stat and Hurricane abuse are a really great start, and provide it with a usable niche. Time will tell what else, if anything, it brings to the table and how effective it will be.

Pidgeot BST is subpar all around and rather mediocre, but none of them are rock-bottom useless.

And Pidgeot have both Agility (For singles) and Tailwind (For Doubles) so you can run a Modest Set investing in Bulk to survive crucial hits and such.

We must help the update in the site anyway, if the only stat boost that is highlighted is SAtk, it means that rest of the Mega-Boost will be scattered everywhere.

For Pokémon that I want to invest in Bulk I check their base HP to start.

I guess that if I go to the Bulk Route the spread will be 168 HP, 44 Def & SDef and 252 SAtk. Or maybe take away some points from HP and dump them in Speed to outspeed certain things after Agility/Tailwind.

The Hurricane abuse is awesome. Talonflame shows us what high power Flyspam can do. Add confusion hax and no-recoil to that in exchange for no priority or item. Mega Pidgeot will probably be a pretty solid Pokemon, especially with smart stat distribution and possible new moves. It isn't going to be a great Mega, though. Workable, sure. Probably plenty good in UU and potentially OU viable. You just have to give up your Mega spot for it. People aren't going to do that except for "bro" purposes, but usage isn't everything. It may well have a niche, and if you wanna use it go for it.

Those sweepers have ways to counter their walls with their coverage, boosting moves etc. Pidgeot doesn't have those options, the only way around its counters would be to use sing and hope that the opponent doesn't switch. Besides, the top sweepers in OU have few hard counters while plenty of stuff resist hurricane+heat wave. Don't get me wrong, I love m-pidgeot's design and I will definitely try it out

They do get Round though, which you can spam to great effect in Doubles. Factoring in STAB + the -late bonus, it's stronger than Boomburst by 6 BP. Gimmicky as shit, but literally everything that learns TMs gets it, so you can pair it with anything fast you want.

I mean, areodactyl is/was in the same boat. Very broad definition of "good moves to give it" due to it being contact, but they wound up giving it nothing.
