I used to always carry beedrill and pidgeot through the game because they were the early game mons I liked the most. However I think beedrill looks kinda like shit and pidgeot will also probably get left off even though I like its design.

I actually disliked gen 3, it was responsible for me taking a near 10 years break from the game, not even joking.

However somehow, someway, I enjoyed the transition to 3d and the online aspects of X/Y, so I'm willing to give gen 3 another chance.

When I started playing pokemon, I started with Gold. I got stuck when the professor calls you and tells you to meet with his assistant in the pokemon center. I didn't know what the pokemon center was at the time, I was a really retarded kid. I got a copy of Red a little while later and played through that OK. I tried Gold again and this time managed to find the assistant by just talking to everybody I could at that point in the game. A couple of years later, Gen 3 came out.

I guess I was spoiled by Gen 2 because I had really high expectations for Gen 3. At least, I expected that I would get to go back and explore Johto, similar to how you can go back and explore Kanto in Gen 2. When I got to the end of the game, I was eager with anticipation and then it turns out the only end-game (for Pokemon R/S anyway) was to go and hunt down Lati@s. I was beyond disappointed. Even as a kid I knew how retarded the team Magma/Aqua plans were. I thought most of the new pokemon sans Aggron and a few others looked incredibly stupid, and at that point I just stopped playing pokemon and switched to Runescape.

Then a few years later I went to the store and saw Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. I had burned myself out on Runescape and was looking for a new game to play anyway so I picked up a copy of Diamond. It was far more fun than Gen 3, and the starters were far better. Infernape was a much cooler Blaziken, Torterra was boss and Empoleon had a nice typing. I liked most of the new pokemon and had fun playing in the battle Frontier. The physical/special split also helped me enjoy the game a lot more, since before that point I had no idea how some types of moves were physical and some types were special. I just thought you were supposed to find out.

I waited with bated breath for Gen 5 because it looked promising. And it was complete and utter shit. Definitively the worst gen in the pokemon franchise and if Gen 6 had been more of the same, I would have undeniably stopped playing Pokemon.

I've always thought that Gen 4 was the best considering that was the gen I started competive battling and loved the most, infernape and staraptor are bros for life. The music was comfy and thought the story wasn't too bad either but I can't wait for remakes

This. I think Gen 4, specifically Platinum, has so many nice environments and comfy places.
The music is 10/10 but I'm honestly not too fond of the Pokemon because I think Gen 3 designs were better.
That's not to say that Gen 4 had bad designs, though. I just prefer Gen 3 ones more.

I can't see a Gen 4 remake happening, but if it does, I'd be hype as shit.

I found Gen 3 to have forgettable towns, but at least the Pokemon designs and the music were 10/10. Best legendaries too.

I started playing both Sapphire/Emerald & Diamond in 2007 when I was 12.

I wouldn't mind a Sinnoh remake, but Platinum exists so I won't be upset if they skip it.

I feel like Hoenn needed the remake to fix some of issues I had with it.

It looks like ORAS is shaping up to be one of the best Pokemon games though.

I don't mind having a Hoenn remake because I feel like ORAS is fixing a lot of things that I didn't like about the original games.

However, I don't think Sinnoh needs remakes. Platinum was a good game. Plus, the 3DS is backwards compatible. And I'm betting the next system will still be able to play DS and 3DS games. After all, the cards are basically the same, apart from the little tab the 3DS cards have.

idk if they'll bother remaking Sinnoh unless a new reverse compatibility break comes in, since you can just load those up with a DS cart and they can interact with the newest generation via 5th gen transfer. I fully expect another RBY remake, since as of the 3DS, Kanto is the only part of the pokemon world you cannot access on the 3DS (other than the stripped down quasi-postgame version presented in HG/SS) and based on their moves with gen 6, they're keen on appealing to the genwunners as much as possible.

I suppose I liked Hoenn, at least more than the people bitching about the new Pokemon while I, having done that with Johto, eventually grew to love them, and later had difficulty telling Gen II and III Pokemon apart.

It's just RuSa themselves that I hated. Loved Emerald but those were pretty shitty, looking back on them. But if anyone ever hears me say I loved Gen 5, I want them to slap me.

Loving Gen 6 though.

I'll be honest, I'm kind of lukewarm about the remakes. I didn't hate Hoenn - in fact I was one of the few (as far as I felt) who was defending it back in the day - but Gen II spoiled me, and Gen IV proved to me just how lackluster Gen III was. I remember describing Emerald as "Near-perfect," but... I'm starting to get the feeling that odd number generations tend to be sort of underwhelming, in retrospect.

Sinnoh? I didn't really like it. It was so slow and underwhelming; but, instead of what happens with Hoenn, I don't really want a Sinnoh remake, or I wouldn't care about there being one. Sinnoh feels so... Empty, and motionless. Hoenn felt as if it had so much going on, but I just couldn't catch up with it all.
In any case, why do you care about what bandwagons people jump in? Once people get something, they start wanting more; it's the inevitable

There was very little off the beaten path and I like exploration. BW2 tried to add a lot of connectivity between cave routes but theyre pointless. By the time you got to the next town you had no reason to go back really.

Postgame is really just Pokewood and Battle Subway.

Sinnoh was actually pretty decent as a region and I liked the idea of a mountain seperating the parts of the region and creating the two gastrodons.
The Pokes on the otherhand were mostly horribly designed with Garchomp and Spiritomb as exceptions.
