Does that mean I should just pick a random ball in each Pokemon I catch? I know using exclusively one kind of poke ball is ballitism, and so is using one that matches the Pokemon's theme.

There are different types of balltism and certain ones are worse than others. As a rule of thumb, the more difficult it is to get a certain Pokémon in a certain ball, the worse it is.

when Im breeding for a 5IV mon that I plan to have around for a long time, there's no reason not to take a few extra minutes to pick a pokeball that at least doesn't look like shit
