>>21273505Aesthetically, I liked. Moving into 3d was a nice change, though the frame rate issues are unfortunate.
I understand the idea behind introducing the fairy type to help reduce dragon dominance, but it will still take some time to get the correct balance down.
Mega evolution was a neat idea for making lesser used pokemon viable again. I like the concept, but I feel like some mistakes were made concerning the lines that got megas, and the stat/ability changes associated with a few. Does anyone even use Mega-doom?
I do appreciate the addition of super training to make EV training simpler, though I wish they would have made it less of a grind. I also liked being able to farm for evolutionary stones with the advanced trainings. Pokemon Amie is take it or leave it. I miss contests and will be sorely disappointed if they don't appear in ORAS.
Character customization is great and I really hope to see it again.
The visual designs for the 70 new pokemon are very solid across the board. Unfortunately, the mechanical designs leave much to be desired. About 5 avoided being utter garbage, and of those 5, 3 are badly unbalanced. I appreciate the attempt to avoid power creep, but it would be nice to explore new possibilities. Instead they crippled what could be some great mons with weak stats/movepools/abilities/typings. The solar powered lizard dies if it stays in the sun too long. Really? No Drought or Lightning Rod?
The region has nice variety, though I would have preferred more pokemon along the routes and fewer locked in the Friend Safari. I hope this was a one time thing while they got pokebank up and running and will not return.
I disliked the rivals and wish that they would have done more and been greater threats. I wish we could go back to more antagonistic rivals who could put up a fight. Or at least someone with a full team. I don't mind having side characters, just make them relevant in some way.
