That was when they didn't realize that every fairy would crumble to Earthquake except for Togekiss, which gets bopped by Stone Edge. Garchomp literally has nothing to fear from faries and most other dragons already ran one or the other. or both.

I don't know. MegaMaw and Azu have huge power, Sylveon has pixilate hyper voice, Mega Garde is a mega with pixilate hyper voice, Clefable has 2 god tier defensive abilities. I think the type's strength is only half of it. Individually most of them are simply excellent thanks to abilities and stats. I mean, Florges has one of the highest BSTs and it's actually one of the worse fairies.

The only fairy retype that gave a massive boon off the top of my head is Clefable.

Klefki and Azumarill enjoy the defensive typing, and the STAB coverage helps Azumarill.

Every other viable fairy also has a good/decent BST.

Florges is actually one of the best fairies. Its near unkillable but as for bulky fairies, Sylveon outclasses it since its Calm Mind is more effective and has more HP.
If Sylveon had 95 Defense instead, Florges would've taken its spot but theyd both rot in lower tiers, with Sylv's only triumph being that Fae Scream of Death

No it doesn't. Super effective damage is a 2x multiplier. Ice type on garchomp is 4x super effective because it's 2x on dragon and 2x on ground. Fairy is 2x on dragon, normal damage on ground. Together on one move it would be 6x because supereffectiveness multiplier is added, not multiplied itself.

True, no fairy right now can actually counter MegaChomp with sand support.

To bad MegaChomp is waste of a mega slot outside of weather teams or using it for mixed wall breaking. So you'll face regular Chomp more often

It isn't necessarily a bad thing that megachomp isn't just a straight upgrade over normal chomp, since you can bluff a set or meteor shit or whatever. Especially since in sand megachomp is pretty ridiculous.
