i think there's a reason why they only have reduced speed and defense, it's because the megas move slower, or may take hits differently but i don't think they'll become weaker. it could be so i won't rule it out just yet.

Remember little kiddies play this game and have movesets like Fly, Quick Attack, Twister, and Hurricane.

Heracross gained +40 Defense and +60 attack and thats it. The +10 Sp Def just offsets the speed drop and is completely unnecessary, plus it gains no Sp Attack. Its as minmaxed as you can get and the kind of boosting Beedril is praying for.

Though i dont think Pidgeot is going to lose a defense stat (Mewtwo is the only one to do this so far, and thats mostly to have room for a +80 Attack...) to even it out but if it does, it can go higher. But probably not above 130

+Focus Blast (required for it to break OU)
+Sing (would be really good. makes it harder to check)
+Blizzard (maybe but seems unlikely)
+Inferno (really unlikely but huge No Guard abuse)
+Boomblast (I don't think it'll happen because it makes No Guard Hurricane pointless except vs. Ghost and certain types)

With what it currently actually has, no stat boosts would save it from sucking. M-Pidgeot needs a mega movepool renovation.

It needs the movepool boost if it wants to get in OU, I agree, but I think people underestimate fast, high-power Flying spam with nearly a 1/3 chance at confusion. I could see Mega Pidgeot being a pretty good choice against the various Fighting types of UU, not to mention the likes of Roserade and Celebi and such. Doesn't have Talonflame's priority, but it doesn't do recoil either. It would definitely appreciate new moves and I'd like to see it get something helpful, but it may well find a home for itself without making the standard tier.

Anyone who complains or laughs about Stone Edge, let alone Blizzard or Thunder, is overstating the obvious. Pidgeot has no business taking on Rock types as it is, even if it got Focus Blast it could only hope to nail them on the switch. No one uses the others except Galvantula and Hail teams, who already have accuracy and, again, aren't Pidgeot's fight.

I wouldn't mind it getting a small boost in Attack if it does get Extreme Speed. Especially since it could out priority Bravest Bird.

Stab Hyper Beam might not be bad, if you timed it right. Definately risky, since you wouldn't want to waste it on a rock or steel, or worse yet, ghost. It would be like your big finishing punch you save for the very end.

I really hope that GameFreak realizes that. From a flavor-standpoint, I love this decision. Pidgeot was always the wind-whipping storm god of the Pokemon birds, so it getting flawless accuracy Hurricane in its Mega form is a great way to represent that. No Guard also ties in nicely with Keen Eye, on the outgoing attacks at least, not as much on the no dodging. Being special and not having to deal with recoil are also big pluses. This build gives it a chance at a unique niche instead of "Insert Mega Stone for new Talonflame/Staraptor", but it needs the right stats and would really appreciate some new moves. Hurricane and boosts alone are enough to make it usable, it needs a few more tricks if it wants to be good.

No it's really not better. Moreover, making Pidgeot physical focused would be pointless because at that point you might as well just give a mega to Staraptor or Talonflame or any of the other billion and one bravest birds who already far outclass it and probably still would even with the +100 BST and new movepool.

Yup. Brave Bird gets handed out like candy. We've got strong, fast, defensive, and prioritized Flying types running around slamming things with a high power recoil move. A physical Mega Pidgeot would just be another one, and it would take up the Mega Slot.

There are very few special Flying types out there, and those that exist have to settle for Air Slash, gamble with Hurricane, make it rain, or rely on other moves. No Guard Hurricane is a focused, specific niche that only Pidgeot can fill, which means it won't be outclassed at its own game. Now we just have to see how well it plays it and what other tactics get brought to the table.

Sadly he doesn't have a move to boost it's Spe Attack. That's gonna be a big downside, Just that probably means that he won't be able to sweep effectively in the end game.
He may really be useful, just like Mega Aerodactyl is. But consistent, no way.

Currently sits at 101 thanks to the BST gift this gen, I'll eat my hat if it doesn't get at least 10 points of Speed. M-Pidgeot looks sleek and quick, even moreso than standard, and they can't put all the points in Sp.Att.

Also he does get Work Up, which is resoundingly "meh" but better than nothing. The Aerodactyl comparison is pretty on point with what I'm expecting though. It doesn't get the cool power boost of Tough Claws, but it's working with higher power STAB that has a secondary effect, which is nice. I could definitely see it landing in that "fairly viable, but not popular, solid in UU" realm that Megas like Aerodactyl, Absol, and others have found themselves.
