I'm pretty shit at competitive battling. I'm trying to make my own sets but I'm wondering why Charti Berry Tangled Feet Thrash Dodrio isn't more common? Too many Ice/Electric types? General Frailness? Is it too much of a gimmick?

OP, that set won't work at all. You're trying to make a frail offensive mon hard to KO, but it's just going to fail. Relying on an evasion boost from Tangled Feet is shaky and unreliable, and a Charti Berry is a bad idea. You want a Life Orb, or other offensive boosting item. If you want to keep your offensive mons safe, make them powerful enough to KO stuff so they don't get hit in return, don't try to patch them up with bloody single-use berries.

Do you play on sim, or cart? Maybe post your team and we'll rate.

To be honest, I don't even know why I have Aerial Ace and Protect there, since I only planned on using Brave Bird and Thrash, but I guess I just slapped on those. The other thing make sense to me 1 x 6 = 6 and my friends told me Modest and Quiet would make my Dodrio team better. I don't even know what it does, but I trust them.

Wow what a terrible Pokemon but this is the best you'll get, it might work alrightish against frail pokemon who by some act of god are slower than you

I think Thrash + Tangled Feet is an interesting idea but there are a few problems with your set.

You should give Dodrio Steel Wing to deal with the Rock-types that you're afraid of.

Brave Bird isn't exactly good on something you want to keep alive so Drill Peck or Fly would be better.

Finally, for your fourth move, you could either go with Roost for further longevity or a bunch of other moves - Quick Attack, Pursuit, etc.

You should mix up your 6 dodrio.
Like, have a wacan berry on one for electric types, and a yache berry for ice types.

Then mix up your movesets!

Give one knock-off for item removal
Give one body slam for a chance at paralysis
Steel wing can increase your coverage. I'll give some suggestions:
