X ad Y had good base, but no powerful instruments to really lead the song.

B2/W2 kinda spoiled me in that regard.
great ost and some of the stuff didn't even feel like they were from pokemon, yet flowed amazingly regardless.
colress/PWR final battle are two of my favourites

Yeah, don't like the new Team Magma/Aqua Battle music that much. It's OK at the very beginning...

Then, it just falls apart from 0:47 on. Just compare. Blame the terrible instruments and shoddy music this gen.

I can't think of many tracks from gen 5 off the top of my head (aside from Route 10 in BW) but I can think of numerous tracks from the first 3 gens. It's probably partly because I've played those games a lot more, but I felt that gen 4, 5 and 6 lacked the catchy tunes and just turned into generic electro songs.

It didn't single-handedly kill competitive battling, although it did change it into hyper-offense and weather wars. Gen 4 had a pretty big powercreep too, Garchomp and Salamence wrecked everything before they were banned.

This trumpet meme is pathetic. The third generation's instruments consisted of orchestral strings as much as it did "trumpets". Also those "trumpets" were actually french horns too. Learn to differentiate.

If you listen, you can actual hear brass instruments in the ORAS soundtrack.

From what I remember, Diamond and Pearl were a lot easier than Platinum. The plot was much less engaging as well.

And don't even get me started on the mechanical problems in DP compared to Pt.

So just wait for the next Kalosian games before passing judgement. I personally don't know why I keep buying the first games in a generation.
