You know what I really don't understand? Yes, as a consumer you can have a fair say, you have a right to complain, etc, etc. But this is Gamefreak we are talking about. We all already know how terrible they are with this sort of stuff. We know they always remove features. We expect these things from Gamefreak every time they release a new game, so why the fuck is everyone so surprised when it happens?

I am totally fine with people expressing their discontent with this as consumers, but if thats the case why not actually do something about it and actually try to speak with your wallet by NOT purchasing something you are not satisfied with instead of just bitching about then supporting their retarded choices anyway. I personally don't care about this, I'll buy ORAS because I am not too iffed off with it. I just don't understand how EVERY TIME Game Freak does shit like this yet EVERY TIME you guys act like it's something new and be all surprised and shit. I just don't get it. Are you all retards? I think the problem is that we were perfectly fine with the purchase originally, with the understanding that the games would still be relevant in the future. Not patching the games for new forms and stuff when they could and removing huge features means that the game is now trivialized by a newer version.

But that's normal in the games. They make each one unique. Weather/seasons/customs or whatever are all independent qualities. But seeing that its successful is what makes Gamefreak look dumb.

Megas can be considered in the same tier as "new gen" Pokemon though. Those aren't backwards compatible either, plus who knows, maybe the cartridge itself can't handle all that data from adding 22 new Pokemon when there's only like 100 to begin with. I assumed it was a low number to begin with to accommodate 3D models, animations, and Megas. It's just an issue with the mega concept relying on older Pokemon. But it's not a new pain, the games have always been wait till next gen/sequel game.

I think there would be far less bitching if they kept the same features throughout the games. Even the stupid pokemon following you feature. Sure, it'd consume more data, and sure it'd require the console to be more sophisticated. You don't honestly think remiving features is a good idea?
I get that they removed walking pokemon because they would need to add and update all the sprites to gen V standards. However the reason they removed customization is just a giant "fuck you", buy the next Kalos game in a year. Both ORAS and XY runs on the same engine so it would have been minimal effort.

If they're willing to make a decently sized amount of megas incompatible across gen 6 games, then what's stopping them from escalating in the future and making complete Pokemon incompatible across a generation of games? It's not as unlikely as it sounds, we'd never gotten new moves and abilities mid gen until now. Who knows where they'll take this if they're willing to do that now?

That is my completely logical issue with this. It is worse than it's ever been before, and I'm worried it will keep getting worse as time goes on.

And best case scenario, even if the most recent game does allow ALL previous Mega's, that still means you're forced to buy a new game to be up-to-date. That's never been done to nearly this extent, within the same gen.

Essentially he THOUGHT they would be ending the series, but obviously that wasn't the case. He himself stopped making the games, while the others who were actually made the damn games went on. Tajiri is still CEO, Tsunekazu is more involved with the TCG.

They could have introduced a new data type - Hidden Power type. If the Pokémon is pre-Gen 6, it'd be calculated by IVs. If it was from Gen 6 and above, generate it randomly.

That's basically what I said, man. In practice, it would mean that any Kalos native Pokemon with any IV spread has a 1/18 (18 types) chance of having their Hidden Power overridden as Fairy type. The other 17 times, Hidden Power is just calculated normally. Technically it makes Fairy type slightly more likely, but only by 0.374% or some tiny shit.

Point is, it's doable and doesn't take much memory.

When you mega evolve, there's code to boost all the stats and all that good shit. After the battle ends, there's more code to undo the stat changes. Recalculating HP would be just as easy as changing it the first time. I'll even spell it out for you just in case you're genuinely confused.

>Have 100 total HP
>Enemy attacks, deals 25 damage
>75 HP left
>Turn 2, mega evolve. Mega evolution has 200 base HP
>100/75 = 75% health
>75% of the new 200 is 150 health

Thats now how the stats work though, as you can see, and thus doesnt work with the code. And there isnt any point to increasing the base HP with a form change in or out of battle. So why bother?
