Well, given the DNA theme in Mega evolutions I think it might be cheeky of GF to release XX and XY rather than Z. Though I suppose that may not fly over super well and they may just resort to calling them X2 and Y2. I don't think we'll ever go back to releasing a solo game like yellow or emerald. They will keep pumping out doubles and requiring folks to either trade or buy the same game twice to complete.
