Why is everyone* so ingrained into this idea that GF is about to drop these Megas just cuz of m-muh patterns? If you haven't fucking noticed, all the Megas we've seen so far for ORAS have been major fucking curveballs. Beedrill? Glalie? Nobody saw that shit coming.

So who's it gonna be /vp/?
Who's that bottom-feeding depths-of-PU-trashmon that's gonna get a sub-par mega next month?

I'll be honest with you, I'm fairly surprised they've revealed so many damn mega evolutions in ORAS. I personally wouldn't really demand anymore megas, or rather complain if my favorite mega wasn't revealed or doesn't exist. Instead I'd be glad Gamefreak put in the time to making so many "new" pokemon in what's supposed to be a remake.

But, no, it's pretty fucking obvious that GF at least recognizes shit like that. Hence why Gallade has a mega. Why Sableye was guaranteed a mega. If Shiftry gets one, Ludicolo will because they're not going to give one version a mega and leave the counterpart in the other without one because it's the equivalent of cheating them out a mega.

They really don't. GF has a long history of boosting one counterpart and leaving the other one with jack shit. Remember when Scyther got an evolution and Pinsir got a rival that made it irrelevant for five gens? When Gligar got an evolution and Delibird is still PU shit? Or how about when Duskull got a third evolution and Shuppet didn't get a boost until M-Banette two gens later?

TL;DR nothing's guaranteed with GF.

My friend asked me to test out any viable Cacturne sets for him. Turns out there aren't any.

But, on my very first game, Cacturne got a 6-0 sweep. Things got worse at higher ELOs, obviously.

That has nothing to do with version balance and the addition of megas changes things too.

For example, if they were to only give Gardevoir a mega you'd in theory be a fucking moron to ever choose Gallade because even though megas aren't actual evolutions they still aren't far off and you'd be out a chance for a mega if you chose Gallade. Obviously that slid by for XY, but ORAS is Hoenn the origin of the Ralts line. So it's not surprising it was balanced out there.

Another example, it's like if Seedot evolved into Nuzleaf, while Lotad evolved into Lombre, then Ludicolo. And still having them as version exclusive counterparts. One counterpart having a mega and the other not having one is effectively the same situation.

No, because if you ever had a physical male Ralts, Mega or not you're still going to choose Gallade, especially since Megas are NOT evolutions. They're a once-per-battle thing, so this isn't something that'll matter if your Mega slot is being occupied by something else like Mega-Aerodactyl for example.

Not completely but it is because the item that was needed to evolve it wasn't until post-game AND Gliscor was not included in the revised Johto Dex.

However, GF has already shown they're making larger changes to the Hoenn Dex because an item evolution like Dusknoir is present, whereas in HGSS only move-based evolutions were included.

Similar, but still not the same. Think what you will though.

From a casual perspective because even a male Ralts can evolve into a Gardevoir and go mega it still "seems" like a better option, even if it happens to be Adamant or Jolly in nature. Sure, an anon like you or me would see the difference in stats, but not the casual audience. Which remember is primarily targeted towards children.
