Well, they had monopolised the monster catching genre for over a decade, so naturally they got lazier, while Level5 had to try hard to break through. I'm rooting for them to be successful with YW in the long run.

It's as likely to have a noticeable impact on Pokemon as Rift/ESO/SWTOR/GW2/etc. were to be the WoW-killer.

Pokemon has way too large of a fanbase. Plus I'm sure half the shits here screaming pre-order cancelled are going to buy the game anyway.

And honestly, there isnt that much hype for these games. Not at the levels of HGSS when the board was super fast months before and after release or when new generations were announced. I feel that ORAS will not sell that much.
Consider that Hoenn has less nostalgiafags and many haters, too.

Probably only because it's new and fresh. Even then Youkai Watch's peak ratings have yet to match Pokemon's during its peak, and Pokemon is still generally much more popular by a significant margin. Frankly I expect YW to go the way of Digimon and eventually lose popularity; I hear its hype is already going down.

Level 5 games, while pretty, have garbage tier gameplay. For fucks sake you can't even control the monsters during the battle. You heard it right, the battles in YW are AUTOMATIC. The game plays more like a mobile game than an actual handheld title. If you think it will be anything like Pokemon you're frankly fooling yourself.

Well, can't wait for graphics whores to end up with another disappointment. As if Ni No Kuni and Fantasy Life weren't enough.
