In a tier of it's own design-wise when it comes to megas. And pretty much the only mega I like more than its normal form. (And that's saying a lot considering Houndoom always was one of my bros)

I don't care much for or against Banette, and I still think its Mega LOOKS perfect.

For me, it's Mega Pidgeot though. Perfect extension to the base form, looks majestic and powerful. I only hope it's half as good as it looks.

Houndoom is arguably my favorite pokemon and has been since gen 2. I must say, I'm disappointed with how the mega turned out. It's incredibly boring. He got armor? Wish they went with a Cerberus thing or did something side from armor or w/e that shit is.

I think this is the only Mega about which I can't offer any complaints. It looks great in 2D, and even better in game.

The Mega animation is great, too. I like that the lower legs start off latched into the abdomen, and then the X pose looks pretty swell.

Mega Beedrill gets a perfect 10/10 design-wise.

What bothers me is, as you said, the claws, the lack of knees (even though fanart often depicts those massive steel legs bending, don't know if that's canon in some way) and the fact that it's wings look fucking tiny, it's inspired by over-the-top-mecha, it could have jet engines in it's wing sockets or something, or atleast more appropriately sized wings

It really looks like a regular evolution though, it simply improves upon an old design instead of adding something. This is not a bad thing, i might add, i like the more traditional looking mega evos like charizardY and gardevoir

I love bug pokemon
I love Beedrill
And M-Beedrill simply looks like a badass evolution of Beedrill.

Quite a lot of the megas are too "spikes and stripes" for my taste. Aerodactyl, Garchomp and Lucario comes to mind.
