Depends on the stat boosts.

Considering that the official site says its Attack and Speed get an "explosive" boost, I think it'd be neat if they just slapped on +50 Attack and +50 Speed, making it a glass cannon with base 140 Attack and base 125 speed.

It would be balanced by the fact that it's Beedrill.

Beedrill-M Stats: 65/150/40/15/80/145

Fragile as shit and risks getting OHKO by priority moves

Casuals will obviously try to use Sword Dance but that would be stupid. It has a poor attacking moveset stuck with Poison Jab, X scissor and Brick Break.

However U-turn and Toxic Spikes may be interesting.

It's not COMPLETELY out of the question. Movepool is shallow, and the thing is fast and frail. If you see them trying fire blast, you could sub up until they miss. If they don't have priority and don't resist your stabs, you bet they'll switch out, which gives you a free turn to sub up for talonflame, which poison jab finishes off.

Scarf users mostly, and other similarly fast mons that don't run scarfs but run a Jolly or Timid nature. The extra boost from Adamant very, very rarely changes 2HKO's into OHKO's, and in fact I can't even think of any off the top of my head.

Mega Pins's base speed is only 105, so if he does go for the Swordance, you're guaranteed 2 hits before he can even touch you. If your +2 I think a neutral Poison Jab can take him out quite handily.

In short, it comes down to who can outplay the other.

OK, so running the numbers quick and the difference between jolly and adamant is that jolly can outspeed scarf users with up to 80 base speed whereas adamant only outspeeds scarfers with 68 or less base speed. Also Jolly outspeeds timid M-Mane (and also crobat and base areo but nobody cares) while adamant doesn't.

So jolly allows us to outspeed scarfers between 68 and 80 base speed, and also M-Mane.
There aren't a whole lot of relevent scarfers in that range. Really you've got Heatran, Chandelure, and Diggersby. And really among those Heatran uses lefties or air baloon way more than scarf, and Diggersby uses LO and band a lot, and more than scarf at higher levels, and Chande isn't really that relevent at all but probably the third most relevent scarf mon in that range. Pretty much all the other relevent mons in that speed range don't scarf. If you can think of any relevent scarfers in that range that I missed, please let me know.

So basically Jolly M-Bee outspeeds: Scarfran, M-Mane, scarf Digg and scarf Chande. Any other relevent base mon and scarfer is either faster than both versions, or slower than both versions. These are, in my estimation, pretty much the only 4 even vaguely relevent mons that are outsped by jolly and not adamant.

So the important question is: Which, if any, pokemon does adamant beat that jolly doesn't?

Adamant Bee is outrun by base 130's running Jolly or Timid nature. Namely, the Latis. This lack of speed turns what would be an easy kill for Bee into an unwinnable match. That alone is reason enough to run Jolly over adamant.

Also, Mega Tyranitar doesn't see nearly as much play as regular Tyranitar, which is OHKO by Jolly Bee.

But these calcs indicate that, to me, going adamant could be pretty benificial. Consider the case of M-medi: M-medicham OHKOs M-beedrill with a zen headbut, but beedrill will go first, with adamant you have a better than 50% chance to kill M-medi, but with jolly you have less than a 10% chance. If you U-turn out and bring in something that can take that headbut (or possibly fire punch) then that mon has to do (on average) 10.8% damage, which is much easier to come by than the 18.2% damage they'd have to do to get a KO off the average jolly M-bee. Guaranteed OHKO on M-ttar after rocks is a lot better than a 50/50 chance.

So going adamant isn't making 2HKOs into OHKOs all the time, but it's increasing the chances of it a lot, especially with mons who might be injured from rocks or previous attacks.

So: Are those better %s worth the trade-off? Well, you lose the chance to outspeed very few relevent mons. But here's the thing: Even if when you do outspeed them, Jolly still loses to all but one of them (assuming full HP).

Yeah, I overlooked them as I was just looking at current mons and right now they have a base speed of 110. Honestly though I expect their megas to be in ubers, given the announced stats. If they're not then obviously this changes. TBH I also haven't included other announced megas because the lists I was looking at didn't include their stats. That could change things.

P.S. I don't think I got any math wrong but if I did please correct me.

Also, regular ttar is played more than the mega, but I didn't include that calc because it's OHKO'd by both bees. I was trying to find and highlight mons who are good and fairly commonly played that adamant bee has an advantage on, to try to compare/contrast with what jolly bee beats that adamant doesn't.

Genesect was used for the exact same reason Beedrill is going to be used: strong, fast hits and the ability to keep up monumentum. Beedrill has two quadriple resists, which is kinda good for something that frail.

If the fucker ended up getting Gunk Shot for whatever reason because the moves weren't complete yet or something, then even the Mega gets one shot. Which kinda makes sense because I want to believe Gamefreak wouldn't be this bad at making a Pokemon, like Sharpedo, and waste all the BST on defenses, give it a relatively worse ability that can have its benefits, and give it no moves (read: fangs) to benefit from it.

Not gonna lie, M-Beedrill keeping OG Beedrill's not-too-shabby Special Defense is amazing. Physical defense is shite, and it only having 15 Special Attack is irrelevant. May as well have reduced it to 5 and put another +5 to Attack and Speed.
