Frankly, 135 Sp.Atk, 121 Speed, and 80/80/80 bulk is pretty damn solid. Not top OU quality, but plenty good. Hurricane is incredible, Heat Wave is fine coverage. It looks like no new egg moves for it, RIP any hopes of Sing or Boomburst. Don't gte your hopes up too much for the tutors or TMs, but some additions could come from there. Frankly, the boosts and what he has are enough to be usable. Looking good for UU.

Blizard is such an unrealistic expectation though. Focus Blast is a little more plaudable, but no Boomburst or (in the least) Hyper Voice in sight is not making things look too pleasant.

But hey, it's better than normal Pidgeot so I can't complain too much.

I wouldn't dream of denying it, but I don't want to set myself up for disappointment in the nice Mega we got just because it didn't get a few extra things. No one would be happier than me if Pidgeot got moves like that, and it would certainly be even better, but it'll survive if it doesn't. They didn't fuck up its stats, and they gave it a unique niche instead of going physical again, plus Hurricane spam is going to be tons of fun minus the recoil most birds endure. I'm pleased.

Man Boomburst would've been a lot of fun, shame he didn't pick it up though. Really though Hurricane/Heat Wave is decent coverage, you're not going to be taking on Rock types anyway. The other two moves are open for Roost, U-turn, even fucking Work Up. I see Mega Pidge working a bit like Manectric. It has the same Sp.Atk stat, but with higher powered STAB, a little slower and no Intimidate, but can recover if needed and still has U-turn as a weaker VoltTurn option.

Mega Pidgeot turned out OK after all. Looking fairly middle of the road. It's no Salamence or Slowbro, but it's definitely not as fucked as the likes of Abomasnow and Banette. Good niche, solid stats. Can't wait to use it.

No new TMs. Expected but disappointing.
All comes down to those tutor moves, but it looks like it's going to be the Hurricane and (hopefully) Heat Wave show for Mega Pidgeot. Better than nothing.

TutorSource3 would be Yellow Shards.
That puts Pidgeot's tutor moves (02,05,08,09,13) as Snore, Synthesis, Role Play, Heat Wave and Tailwind.

Obviously that's not completely right.

Seems like there's the same number of tutor moves, but some are changed. No way in hell would Pidge get Synthesis, but Heat Wave and Tailwind are plausible.

Heat Wave is good to see back. That means it can basically be a non-priority, non-suicide Talonflame. As per usual, simply stay off the Rocks and you are good to go.

I'm so glad it got boosted to 135. I was really hoping for 130 and was afraid it was going to come up short, but they exceeded expectations with the distribution. 121 is also a pretty nice speed tier.

Keep in mind I could be completely off-base here.
I checked a couple favourites of mine (Venusaur, Umbreon and Scolipede), and according to the numbers, Venusaur still gets Bind and Knock Off, and Umbreon gets Foul Play, but Scolipede no longer gets Iron Defence.

These are educated guesses, but take them with a grain of salt.

Who has the better typing "by a lot"? Talonflame has to deal with crazy SR damage shortening its already short life, but it resists Fighting, Fairy, and a few other nice types. Normal/Flying is what it has always been, meh. But Mega Pidgeot isn't a lost cause, at least.

More observations:

In BW2, Iron Defence was the 2nd move taught by the 2nd move tutor (Blue Shards). TutorSource2 doesn't have move "02" listed for Scolipede, but TutorSource3 does. Is it Iron Defence or something else, like Snore or Bug Bite? (tutors 1 and 3 in BW2, respectively)

Going by the same logic, Beedrill doesn't have move "03" on TutorSource1 (Drill Run, according to the BW2 order listed on Bulbapedo), but it DOES have move 03 listed under TutorSource3, where it also has move 02 listed (could be Bug Bite, which was on the same list as Drill Run in BW2).

My guess? Some moves require the same Shards they've always had, but some are switched around.

Said it in another thread: Pidgeot looks to be about Blastoise/Ampharos/Aerodactyl/Absol tier as a Mega. Has a game to play, plays it well, will be right at home in UU and can at least function in OU if you don't mind giving up your Mega slot for it. Flying spam is good, add to that confusion and take away the recoil suffered by Talonflame and Staraptor. 121 speed is nice, 135 Sp.Atk is as good as it could've gotten. Overall it looks like a damn fine Pokemon, not incredibly powerful but certainly usable and no longer garbage. Rejoice, Pidgeot fans!

Maybe new moves will come next time, for now be thankful we didn't get completely shafted.

It really just looks like Tornadus-T, I wouldn't say it's noticeably poorer. It takes the Mega slot in exchange for perfectly accurate Hurricane, which is huge. No item and no Regen are a shame, though. I can understand that assessment. Definitely wins style points over Torn, though, and thanks to the accuracy it isn't strictly worse.

Alternate Tornadus-T, I'd say. No Regenator, but Hurricane is fully accurate. No Superpower, but Roost. TT definitely has a better movepool, but Pidgeot isn't totally washed up. Considering Tornadus-T is ranked B+ in both OU and UU and Pidgeot can do essentially the same job, I think it'll be just fine. Might be slightly lower or higher depending on how handy the perfect accuracy is or if the Mega usage keeps it down, but it can perform admirably in a niche that Torn has already shown us works.

Either the tutors have more or less moves than they used to (Red and Yellow Shard tutors didn't have much in Gen 5), which would have altered Dragon Pulse's place in the list, or it's just been moved completely arbitrarily.

Either that or it doesn't learn it. Could be any number of things.
