So, I'll be honest here. I really didn't like this episode at all. It just felt so unnatural for Serena to suddenly just decide she wanted to do Pokemon Performing specifically. Yeah back in the summer camp she had an existential crisis and all that, but when Shauna was talking about TriPokelons I only ever got the impression she kinda thought it was cool, not that it was her dream to be like Elle. Then we get to this episode, she sees one performance by Elle and suddenly she's acting like it's her life goal or something. I was expecting her to at least "shop around" and trying different things before she settled on the Performing thing so quickly.

In terms of this episode though, I found it fine. Some may say it seemed sudden, but all her Poke Vision stuff seemed used as a way to build up to this. Since, she is in a sense, preforming in said videos. Actually seeing Elle live, probably served as much more of a stimulant to move her forward as well.

The problem is that she specifically says "I'm going to be like Elle" even though before this it was mostly just portrayed as a hobby of hers, and it was even punctuated by Ash going "You finally found what you want to do?"
What they should have had her instead do is have her go "You can participate in a TriPokelon if you come with me Pancham", and then after her first one, she loves doing it so much that she declares she wants to be just like Elle. That would've felt a lot more natural.

Serena already knew about Pokemon Performing/Pokevision and displayed only a moderate amount of interest towards it and Elle, and then this episode she goes "I want to be like Elle", it's just a really large leap in the level of enthusiasm. Remember when Serena was shown completely fangasming over Diantha? They should've had her do that for Elle instead, or hell, say in the animeverse that Diantha is a part-time or former performer and that would've worked perfectly.
