Most of it seems like the old songs remade exactly the same but with a better soundfont with little to no new twists or surprises. Then again this isn't that surprising. The previous remakes only had bleeps and bloops with only a few tracks and nearly no percussion to work with, so there was way more room to experiment with different instrumentations. R/S/E already had obvious instruments that were used in each track, and changing too much would lose the charm of the original OST.
There's still some cool stuff though, like the synth in May's theme and the weird sound of the Team Aqua encounter theme. And then there's stuff like the Abandoned Ship which was already perfect to begin with.
Overall I'm excited to hear what the rest of the OST sounds like. Bretty gud
