I don't know why, but I find that the originals have a quite unique and cozy atmosphere that goes completely lost in the remakes, I didn't like the Advance graphics and colors at all, also the 8 bit themes were way superior IMHO (the same goes for other ADV games). Probably because RBY have a similar feeling to Mother 1 and Earthbound, which I loved too. However, HGSS are fine for me.
Yeah I know FRLG had a longer postgame and some new mechanics but I never really cared too much about it anyway, I consider RBY to be a different experience (as I said before, more similar to Mother than the other Pokémon games) as the team itself confirmed in some interviews that they had a more traditional RPG design in mind. I never cared about glitches too and I find that some people are way too bothered by them, in an almost autistic way, but to each his own.
