>>21388544Alright, I've given it some thought, and the situation seems to be this. There are people who will buy the new games regardless of any patches because they want to experience the new game. They aren't a problem at all.
Then there are people who would buy the new game only if they have to. The new megas and them being incompatible with x/y force them to buy these new games whereas a patch would mean they sit back, hack the new stones into their game, and continue playing x/y, resulting in lost sales for GF. I suspect thats where you're greed accusation is coming from.
From a purely business perspective this is true and you are right in that patching would only lose gamefreak money. Its a valid reason not to release a patch if they want to maximize profits.
What im saying is that the latter base is nowhere near large enough, at least to me, to put enough of a dent in nintendo's sales to warrant not utilizing the new technology at their fingertips and making both games compatible. Then again, if nintendo soley wants to maximize profits then my point is moot and every penny counts. In whichever case i concede. I still would like to see a patch come out, but I really say much against you're argument.
