Why would GF even bother?
they know for a fact people will buy the game, sure it's going to be a hassle having to migrate all your pokemon from XY to ORAS but it's not like they give a shit.

GF just takes advantage of the fact people will buy their games regardless of whatever jewery they pull.

they come up with excuses like XY being an overall prototype for gen 6 and ORAS being much more serious and the "adventure" focus making a return (not that it really left at all).

now if they pull this shit with the games that come after ORAS, then I will seriously think of stop buying into their tricks, but it's unlikely they will seeing as they probably already know it stirred quite the outrage.

XY just got the short stick of the 6th gen.

How is this any different that say a new Fifa game, Racing game 526 or COD?

The Berry Program Update is triggered in the title screen of FRLG or E. You link two GBAs with FRLG or E as player 1 and with RS as player 2, then confirm that you want to patch RS. The patch is applied, you reboot the game, and it's done.

It's ridiculous. a) they've probably preordered already, and b) Game Freak's been doing this since Platinum.

New versions come out with new forms, and the old games can't connect with them. Try battling a friend with Diamond or Pearl with a Wash Rotom or Origin Giratina in your party. Doesn't work.

All that's happened, is they've added new moves and abilities.

I really don't see what I would do has anything to do with this at all. If we wanted to we could come up with all sorts of ways to make Pokemon create even more opportunities to charge fees, but we generally frown over such practices because it is them splitting up what they've always given us into many smaller parts and then charging us the same price as the full package.

As a business, of course, it's their right to charge whatever the fuck they want for however much product they want, but we're also allowed to recognize it for what it is and refuse to buy it if we don't like that. And really, it's not like GameFreak is in some kind of serious financial situation.
