And it's not really a metaphor for anything, I just choose names where they seem mildly relevant. Heidegger has a sort of groundbreaking essay on technology, so I named my Porygon-Z Heidegger; Freud watched his nephew (or grandson or something) throw a toy away and pull it back, saying "fort" (gone) and "da" (here) respectively, so I named Banette, a toy discarded by a child, "Fort;" I named my shiny Clawitzer "Pinchy" after Homer's pet lobster, etc.
