Archer sat in his office, pouring over the notes he had taken over the course of the day. Miraculously, he had managed to finish all the requisite paperwork, and he had spent this day deep in study, trying to immerse himself in his host country's culture and history.

Today's topic was religion.

'There are four principle religions in this world' he thought to himself, setting aside the book he held in his hands moments before. Down went the book, and up went the notes he had taken.

The oldest of the four religions is polytheistic; that is to say that each deity is worshiped, though the level of worship between deities is not necessarily equal. Various offshoots exist, varying greatly depending on culture, geographical location, and the length of time it has been since the offshoot was born. Once found throughout the world, but nor relegated mostly to Asian countries, though small offshoots are being found in the Americas.

The next oldest originated in Egypt, some 4-6 thousand years ago. Founded by slaves, its history is widely documented in the first of the three Books of Arceus. Now found in Europe and the US in quantities equal to that of its holy land in Jerusalem. This marked the shift in worshiping all the deities equally, to worshiping Arceus only as the one true God.

The next is an offshoot of the previous, and its history is documented in the second of three Books of Arceus. Though it began some 2 thousand years ago in a polytheistic region, it traces its history to the first monotheistic religion, stemming from tales of Arceus descending to earth in the guise of a human, spreading a doctrine different from what had been written in the first book. This religion is the principle religion of Europe and most of North America.

Lastly, there is Giratinism, the youngest of the three monotheistic religions. The story goes that, one day, Arceus descended from the heavens and spoke to Moses, commanding him to be the instrument by which His people would be set free. Moses obeyed, but Ramses, stubborn and prideful and refusing to be the weak link of his family's legacy, refused, and Arceus retaliated with a host of plagues. Eventually, Ramses relented, but the two brothers, who had once been closer than any two brothers before or after, had since grown to hate each other.

Sophia and Gaspar had made some progress, but they were still woefully behind. The psychic attack went wide again but the sword slash by Drizz'l would finally take the Weezing down. The Fatman seemed to not care at all though, the wind itself only barely slowed him in passing as he tossed another poke ball high into the air for it to open up and reveal the massive form of a Snorlax which fell stright down towards the Drizz'l.

The Miltank too the two blows the former and latter bringing it back down for good. But the celebration proved short lived as another blast came from somewhere nearby, a beam smashing directly at the Ariados.

Sure enough, the active scan revealed several patrons of the Game Corner to be Zoroark. In the case of Pokemon, by definition, yes. There's a reason the Pokemon games are called RPGs. You assume the role of a player in a fictional setting. We're doing literally the same thing. The benefit to this, and non video game roleplaying in general, is that we have creative freedom beyond what the games can allow us. We can chose tactics in battle which we can't in the games for example.

This is pretty much the same. The enjoyment that comes from it is also similar.

Sure, it's not as interactive as it was, since it's not an in-person thing, but that just means that it goes from an outdoors thing to a nice indoors activity to spend dead hours in. It also gives you more time to reflect on the course of the game and generally improve upon what used to be a kids game.

Personally I RP because I want to get better at writing. And boy did I git gud in the last 3 and a half years. Absurdly so I may say. I also have a very fertile imagination I need to sate or otherwise I feel myself lost daydreaming.

On behalf of your other question I was diagnossed with hyperactive dissorder (something most certainly not befitting of a quiet, calm passtime such as roleplaying), but that's the same bullshit doctors said about three out of four children back in the nineties.

Hope I furthered your understanding if only marginally.

The man points to the door behind him as he continues his speech.

Daniel was out on the prowl for some grass Pokemon that he could use to cover up the scent. He wasn't going to get himself embarrassed again like he had with Rosa, and he had a lack of grass types on his team to begin with.

Of course Daniel wasn't sure where to start. Big cities aren't often known for their wildlife, and this whole region was new to him.

Daniel wandered around the streets as he half hoped to stumble across his answer.

"No idea, never heard of the place."

Autor immediately took off without waiting for a response. If many people knew of the restaurant then he may be mistaken, but if it's new and unknown there's a good chance it may be a front for the new base.

Construction was going well, all things considered. They were finally back on schedule compared to last time, though it had taken a good deal of influence from Trace to get the grunts to haul ass enough to get on track.

So far though, the only seriously finished section was the Barracks. The grunts, being their workforce, needed to have a place to sleep. Outside of that things were still pretty bare bones, but it was being worked on.

A pair of scouts were guarding the tunnel, just in case. Both saluted as Archer arrived.

Grunt 1: "Things are back on track, sir. Trace smacked most of the grunts into shape to get things back on schedule. We've still got some wild pokemon sniffing around, but they're being caught and passed out to new recruits."

He stopped to think for a moment before continuing.

Grunt 1: "As far as how much we've finished, only the Barracks are actually done. I believe next is the Medical and Scout areas."

The remaining opponents kept the attack going, the Porygon-Z continuing to blast at the Spider with more beams of Ice as the Snorlax continued to try and wrestle with the Gyarados in another slamming attack. The further the party went into the sewers of Castelia, the greater the stench became, until at last the party reached the water's edge.

Archer dropped down on his knee, and withdrew a small metal strip from his pocket- Why he had it, no one would ever know- and dipped it into the water. When he pulled it out not a moment later, it had corroded away, leaving dull brown rust where once shimmering bronze had been.

"Just as I thought" he said, tossing the remnants of the metal strip into the water. "The lengthy presence of poison-types in the water has made it toxic."

Under the jacket of the blue-haired executive were a string of the classic red-and-white spheres. Beside them, though, was a strange one. It was all white, save for the black markings and French writing that covered the top half. Archer removed this one from his belt, and tossed it into the water, where it floated for a moment.

"Just wait" he said, as the sphere sank beneath the toxic sludge. "Just wait."

When it had fully submerged, the sphere went to work, and in a flash of light, there in the water was a pokemon the two grunts had never seen before. It was brown, mostly, and save for the crown of red atop its head, it would have nearly blended in with the waste.

"This is a Dragalge" said Archer, petting the head of his strange creature. "It's a new species of pokemon that was discovered off the coast of France only about a year ago."

"I purchased this specimen, along with two others like it, from a French-based breeding program earlier this year."

"He's a poison/dragon hybrid, so he'll not only thrive in the waters down here, but he'll be a valuable asset in hunting down and eliminating the remaining poison-types."

Archer returned to a standing position before the grunts, adding "Just be sure to keep a close eye on him- He's got an insatiable appetite, and one of his favourite food items is other poison-types, so keep an eye on him if you intend to capture the pokemon down here."

He had wondered what the aim of this venture was when the metal strip was revealed, frowning at the water instead once the result had been shown. Watching it corrode had him wincing for a moment.

To think he had been stepping in that crap, hell, some of his mates had had to SWIM in it. He made a note to make sure they got checked up on by medical if they hadn't yet, just in case.

It was the writing that caught his attention. It was pretty rare back home to see something like it back home, but there was a good deal of it here. This was probably going to be good.

And it was.

He was stunned for a moment, just grinning as he listened to Archer speak. These things would be a perfect defense to set up for their base.

Grunt 2: "I'll be sure to let everyone know immediately after we've finished. The Heads will likely want to come investigate for themselves."

The sudden lunge by the form was enough to leave a good tear across him, the man merely looking at it before laughing. "Yes a good scar there." He answered before darting away and leaving a Scrafty in his place, the man now going after the bird.

The bisharp finally went down from the other attack, the bug making no motions of attack considering it no longer had a target..

In replace however the man would toss a pokeball behind him, a Scrafty which charged the bird with a brick break attack.

The ghostly bug targeted the ditto in the distraction, it's altered form enough for it to do it's own share of damage.

Aran grinned, one of the few times he did so.

Aran: "I expect you to pay it this time too."

They pressed on as Trace laughed, off on an adventure to examine this new pokemon Archer had brought in. It looked like they would be headed to France on their next break.

At least this was a good way to avoid paperwork for a bit.
