There are A LOT of different pokemon for you to catch that were not available during the original Black and White. Many of these cool pokemon like Magnemite, Growlithe and Koffing can be caught as early as the second gym. Mareep, Riolu, and Azurill can be caught before taking on the first Gym.
On top of that, the Pokedex has this really neat feature that shows you what pokemon in the area you have caught and which ones are available to you that you have not yet captured. It also specifies if they're on land, in the water, or if you have to fish after them.
Challenge mode is a really neat concept that ups the ante, not by much, but it's noticeably more difficult. They shot themselves in the foot however by not having it available to you at the start. I'd kill for a veteran mode in newer Pokémon games.
It's already been mentioned a lot, but Pokémon World Tournament is amazing, if even just for the fan service. You're able to challenge all the previous Gym Leaders and Champions of past games. It rewards you even if you fail, but REALLY rewards you if you win. This makes it less tedious to lose, but still satisfying when you win. I personally love the random pokemon triple battles.
