Hoenn really wasn't all that great, way too much surfing and wingull encounters, and the music was a little too heavy with the trumpets. However it is certainly not the worst gen. That belongs to Diamond and Pearl.

All that being said, i'm hyped as fuck for these new remakes. From what I've seen it looks like they did a really good job.

Kanto is overrated. I stared with gen one, but in what universe is Kanto a better region than Hoenn? Hoenn is better on every level in terms of cities, landscapes, weather, etc. I mean, it's not even close.

I love Gen2, but saying that Gen3 is a downgrade is retarded. The only thing it downgraded was in the overworld really, you know the shit that doesn't matter after you beat the storyline, aesthetics . Gen3 actually brought more to the pokemon mechanics than the previous games, with natures, and double battles, maybe more, but I can't remember other than that. I never played Emerald, just one play through of Ruby.
