Why does Gamefreak add amazing features, only to remove them in later gens?

A game like Platinum/BW2 with all those features would be GOAT. Seriously, why.

I'm not talking about ORAS. I'm talking overall.

They add Apricorns in Gen II to remove them in III.

Walking with PKMN in Gen IV, removed in Gen 5/6.

Etc.

If it's any consolation, in X/Y you can skate with the analog stick and walk with your normal shoes with the D-pad.

GF is too fixated on preserving a temporal theme with every Pokemon game they release, so that they have less to work on (development wise, which would be less of a hassle for them to pay their employees), and so that they can single out stupid shit that is exclusive to whatever particular game they're working on to attract people to buy the game.

They obviously show no interest in working extra hard to make history with a solid Pokemon title. Even though games like BW2 and HGSS were great, even those games lacked heavily in some aspects.

It's obviously about the money at the end of the day.

They're not that stupid, honestly. Masuda is well aware (especially recently) about what players want, but his bigger priority is accomplishing whatever they feel would best characterize their new game (in an exclusive manner), and then market the game off of that one stupid thing.

In a nutshell, GF thinks quantity > quality

They did in RSE (not FRLG), it just wasn't noticable. But you could still evolve Eevee into Espeon/Umbreon if you wanted.
