He did do some great tracks on BW's OST, but that seems more like a fluke when you look at his work on other games. Ichinose and Sato are much more reliable, so their lack of presence is really regrettable.

I was so pleased with what I've heard so far. It translates so well. It feels just like it did in RSE. The re-orchestration is grand and appropriate. It's been updated without any liberties being taken. Sounds to me like you're a shithead with no musical taste.

After playing the demo, I think the evil team encounter and battle themes sound pretty weak in comparison to the originals. The regular trainer theme wounds fine, so I'm holding on hope for the rest.

Abandoned Ship sounds beautiful though, I can't wait to hear the dive theme.

the only remakes that matter.

but since the anime is ending, and sugimori did Official Art for Ash, I won't be surprised if we get a Yellow Remake that's way closer to the anime than the first one.

AZ's floette opened the way for Ash's Pikachu.

They are sequenced files, like in the NDS games, which were pretty much converted midi files. For the instruments, they may be using a .dls file which is a soundfont, or maybe a VSTi plugin since they can handle great quality while not being stupidly heavy like a soundfont.

It feels weak because the synths are created to resemble actual instruments, and therefore do not exude pure sound waves. Rather than a perfect wave these new synths are inflected with flaws. Strings music is unstable in that the amplitude, length, and frequency can easily waver with human mechanical graces. Trumpets and other brass can scrape or crack a little if there's spit in the chamber or defects in the structure. So, it feels like something performed and not created by the game itself. I happen to like a lot of the music. I think it's sensational to write it off as garbage.

The new one just goes crazy with the synth for some reason, and the french horn from 1:02 is totally gone and replaced with...more synth.

Everything feels so manufactured with these games.
