You want a reason why I won't be playing ORAS?
When I was younger, and the pokehype was going on in school, I had a crush on a boy in my class. And he played Pokemon, he was the cool one who had a link cable.
So I asked my parents for it, but they told me I'd have to work hard. I took over my brothers lawn mowing, pulled weeds, cleaned gutters, and when fall hit I raked the leaves.
Slowly but in time I got my wish, a teal gameboy and a copy of Pokemon silver. Totodile was my starter if that matters.
Now I was ready. I played a little bit, but I would ask him for help. Thankfully he didn't do something like give me a level 100 mewtwo but he traded with me and explained how to evolve certain Pokemon, he was really smart. I learned the type chart, and eventually my final team ended up being Feraligatr, Furret, Steelix, Gengar, Red Gyarados, and Skarmory.
I'd try to battle him but he always dunked everyone, and I couldn't even take half his team.
Eventually though, people started playing less, and soon it was just us two. I hadn't stopped doing my jobs well leaves and lawn was snow shoveling now, so I had enough money to buy ruby and sapphire; although I didn't know it was GBA only, he had one so I would've been safe.
His birthday came and I sat with him at his desk since it snowed hard and I told him happy birthday, and asked if he wanted to play Pokemon with me; I was going to surprise him with his choice of Ruby or Sapphire, which would've ended awful since no GBA on my end but whatever.
He looked at me and said that he was tired of Pokemon, it was boring and lame and just a game for kids, no one played it anymore. He said he didn't want me to bother him anymore, because he was going to stop playing and move onto YGO instead.
I never felt as sad and angry as I did that day. I fucking punched his face and ran out of the room crying. I threw the games at some kid in the hall and ran all the way home without my jacket.
