As beings that form such complex social structures as humans, where how we interact with eachother determines success or failure in every single aspects of our lives, well-developed social skills are far more important than such a silly thing as a few IQ points.
I'm also unsure you know how evolution is or works. Each of us, our genome, the mutations on it and the skills we are able to develop from it represents what you'd call a 'step' on evolution. If our gene pool allows us to use valuable trades that help us cut our way through life we succeed and not only do we pass on our traits, but the people around us try to mold themselves and even their children to our likelihood. If not, we are forgotten.
Where do you think autists and aspergers stand?, Do you see many of them wearing suits and riding fancy cars?, Do they rule the upper spheres of the business world, politics and scientific research?, Do you think many mothers would point at an aspie or an autist and say "you should be like him!"?
Like you said, these people are one of the next steps of evolution... A step on a path that leads nowhere because they are likely to fail to develop on the most important aspect of life. If you think I'm wring just have a look at JustinRPG ffs.
You were surely baiting tho. Congrats for hooking one up.
