Not saying, for example, Pancham should evolve twice, I mean more evo lines. Another Bug and maybe another Ground. Oh and a legend trio, not the XYZ trio, a lesser trio like Zapmolcuno.

That's exactly how it works. It's why Knock Off is less effective against megas.

What I like is that a large number of Kalos pokemon are actually viable. Pre-release if people told you that the regional bird would make people ragequit or that the regional bug could actually be threatening, would you have believed it? Sure, there are pokemon with terrible stat distributions like Aurorus and pokemon with terrible movepools like Delphox, but by and large you can pick up a Kalos mon and do something useful with it.

Except Gen 6 is the only time GF has decided to make the early route shitmons actually usable for once, which has nothing to do with the quality of gens. In fact, a lot of XY Pokemon are just plain fucking terrible, with only a select few in the higher ranks. ORAS move tutors well help a few, but again this has nothing to do with the numbers introduced.

Aurorus is also one of the weakest and shittiest Pokemon ever introduced since fucking Ledian.

But more to the point, Muk has won me a few game in ELO Hell and on the random. He has some nice bulk, but STAB psychic and ground attacks kill him.

If Sticky Hold worked as planned, I could actually build him into a Stall machine.

And that's really too bad, since it gets Hyper Voice and Water Pulse. I really wish it was a fast physical sweeper with ExtreameSpeed, Tyrantum had Rock Head Head Smash with a ton more Speed, and Avalugg's Special Defense and HP were equal to that of its Defense. I wonder if Game Freak had come up with 200 or so new monsters for XY and what people would say.

I hope you realise that Dragon as a whole isn't OP, it's because Dragon Pseudo legendaries dominated metas, and they dominated them for reasons, especially their huge movepools and very good stat distribution, while weaker dragons like Druddigon get another weakness for no reason

It's too good is the problem. Only two weaknesses for a type that's more or less offensive, failed at actually balancing Dragons (If the entire point was to make Dragons weaker then BUFF ICE) and helped make Ice and Psychic types useless.

I'm happy with the concept of Fairy since a new type means lots of new creative possibilities, but as it stands the typing is far too good. It needs more weaknesses.

No, the more there are the higher chance a majority of them being good. Not every single fully-evolved Pokemon can be amazing. I would wager that the percentage of "good" Pokemon is pretty even across all generations, it just stands out in XY because there are fewer total than usual.

Fairy was clearly meant as an anti-meta type. In that vein the strengths/weaknesses are exactly what they should be.

The biggest misstep IMO is that they made it resist bug, which just confuses me because it's not like bug was in any way a good type.

As far as Psychic goes, they need to make more poison types that mitigate their earthquake weakness like Megasaur or Weezing, those make carrying a Psychic move a lot more important.

I guess we should have seen that coming as soon as we saw it and got confirmation that it was Rock/Ice. There's no justification for it being fast and its type combination is so bad it makes bulk pointless.
But then we got stats. HP is the only thing it has that isn't mediocre, refrigerate is its ability while currently being unable to learn any normal attacks of note with its better attacking stat. Not to mention not learning Power Gem for STAB despite having crystals embedded into its body.

This pokemon went extinct for good reason, and science had to bring it back so that it can suffer some more.

EVs I think are fine because they're so damn easy to change whenever.

Personally I think they should make IVs like EVs in the sense that there's a limit on the total IVs (120 maybe?), and it's equal for every Pokemon. That would actually encourage creative thinking because other people are just doing 31 across the board because its objectively worse to have anything else (aside from 0 attack for confusion/foul play or hidden power shenanigans). And you wouldn't have to remove the breeding game so many people seem to enjoy.

So for example, maybe I want a balanced Pokemon that's 20/20/20/20/20/20, or maybe I wanted a sweeper so a bred until I get a 9/31/25/0/24/31.

Also, history of the word. Fairies have numerous stories ranging from beautiful holders of nature to monstrous things that play pranks with their wieners (seriously). History of the word dragon is pretty much locked in tough and such.

XY had better Pokemon. Not stat-wise maybe, but design-wise? Gen VI trounces Gen V. XY had creative shit like Aegislash, Hawlucha, Tyrantrum. Even lackluster designs like Goodra are at least creative.

But I guess the bigger problem is that the games would have to randomize which stats get subtracted if you transferred a Pokemon with total IVs higher than 120, which would probably piss people off.

And speaking outside the context of just Smogon OU Singles, it feels like the majority of Pokemon this gen have some kind of niche they were designed for, like Diggersby has a super powerful earthquake, Avalugg having sky-high defense or Slurpuff being super versatile. It doesn't feel like we have a lot of "filler" Pokemon.

Maybe in 5th gen, but people don't even use the other weathers much anymore and they already are good. (Mega)Tyranitar and MegaZard Y see play mostly because they`re individually awesome. How much buffing would it take to make people want to play temporary hail- especially when Snow Warning Aurorus (once released) has one of the very few typings that are even worse than the Snow Warning Abomosnow we already have.

Well thanks for the mixed attacker mega stats developers. I mean, without a physical fairy attack or a special rock attack, I'll actually need both to round out my coverage while sweeping- which is apparently what I do now, right? Fuck this. Certain Pokemon are only good, according to the metagame, if they have certain IVs that are difficult to determine and get a certain hidden power type. Latios and M-Venusaur for example are required to have HP-fire.

Listed it as a Gen 3 because I feel that it holds a lot of Gen 3 pokemon back. There are a lot of two stage evolutions in Gen 3 that now can no longer have evos because of Eviolite. It wasn't necessarily a problem for Gen 5 pokes so much has closed the door on evolutions for many previous gen pokemon, particularly those of Gen 3.

Not him but I wish Sugimori would hurry up and learn how to draw noses. That line which is way too far down the person's face looks so lazy and horrible. Even if he just did some generic small, pointy anime nose it would look so much better.

I like how his artstyle has changed though. Compared to the late GSC/RS style he was using, its really changed for the better. Better use of colours, better shading, better poses for human characters, etc.

HP bars still drain according to an absolute time interval per point, and not percentage based, or better yet, single chunk. Every single game in the series gets slower as you approach endgame and hp pools increase.

Steel was weak to three very common offensive types and only hit Rock for super effective damage, an already bad type. That's why it wasn't OP. I'd argue that the secondary typings brought more strengths than weaknesses, such as Skarmory and Scizor shedding two weaknesses.

You're right, but you ignored the part about stats. The point was that type isn't all that makes a pokemon. For example if you shifted 15 base stat points from Garchomp's speed to its special attack it wouldn't be nearly as useful. In fact, you have Flygon who has the exact same dual typing but doesn't get nearly as much use because it's simply not as good. Dragon was overpowered by virtue of the fact that they just made the dragon pseudos good pokemon both stats and movepool wise, which is why you would be dumb NOT to include them in your team if you want to win. The type effectiveness chart did factor into it because their offensive coverage with just their STAB was so good but it wasn't the whole story.
