I'm currently at 1555, this team is pretty fun to use

I find that Scarf Latios is really underrated in this meta since it makes for a fantastic revenge killer against +1 Zard, Scarf Lando-T and others, specifically Dragons weak to Ice Beam and or Draco. It's a pretty good defogger imo since it has the potential to force out mons and get a free Defog off. The Timid nature is needed so it can outspeed everything up to ScarfChomp.

The biggest problem I have with the team is the glaring Scarf MB Excadrill weakness which I ran into a few times while climbing the ladder
Magnezone is a fantastic mon in this team since it removes the threat of Ferrothorn which walls a lot of my team, apart from Gengar and Medicham
Taunt3Attacks Gengar is fucking great, nothing wants to switch into it since LO STAB boosted SW/SB kills nearly anything while Focus Blast OHKOs most Steel or Rock types not named Heatran

Important changes:
Make latios 252 speed and modest, take off Ice Beam for HP Fighting/Earthquake.

Take off Focus Blast/Sludge Wave on Gengar for Substitute, and I personally prefer Sub-split>Sub-taunt but it doesn't really matter.
Change magnzone to 192 (or more) speed, to outspeed Mega Venusaur/Heatran/Speedless Scizors.

Other than that, your team looks good.

Why are all the mega-pokes in OU, instead of just banning their mega-item separately from the pokemon? It's bullshit that I can't use shit like Pinsir in lower tiers just because of it's mega.

Megagross is the exact same as regulargross except fast and slightly bulkier, and Metagross is really low UU right now. It'll be high UU, Low OU at the start while everyone tests him out.

How do you guys manage to make teams without too many weaknesses/only weak to one or two more rare Pokemon? There are just so many threats in Gen VI, and even if you carry a counter, if you get forced to sac it by bad earlygame matchups you're fucked.

I suppose you can counter everything or thereabouts, but that would surely leave you with so little scope for creative teambuilding and bringing in Pokemon that exist purely to sweep/punch holes rather than to check anything.

Gen V, I was usually around 1700-1800 on the ladder. Nowadays I find it hard to get above 1500.

If you invest full speed(to speed tie Lati twins) it will struggle to do this with rocks.

He said they're the same and then you listed reasons why they are the same.

Speed tying with the lati twins isn't a big deal
It's being in that speed tier that gives it the edge. You know that slightly relevant pokemon, keldeo? How about terrakion? Garchomp? Lopunny, manectric, pinsir, landorus-i? It's quite clearly a big deal.

Again, with the bulk to survive landorus-T's eq, you completely missed the point. this is a SE STAB move coming off 145 base attack, and it only has a 31.3% chance to OHKO AFTER ROCKS. That's huge because it means any neutral move is going to have a tough time even 2hkoing it.

You mention yourself that it's stronger than LO gross without taking any recoil, so I'm not sure what to say. The reason regular gross is UU isn't because it doesn't do enough damage.

Regular metagross' biggest problem was its speed, which would mean it has to take hits before it deals them. with a meta full of ground and fire attacks, this was a serious issue. With 110 speed it suddenly doesn't have to take these hits and can use its offensive potential. This is on top of its boosted defenses and great typing, which let it take any priority that isn't sucker punch easily, and almost guarantee that your opponent will have to use more than one pokemon to take it down.

Also, EQ not being boosted by tough claws isn't really an issue since most things it hits are OHKOed anyway (eg. heatran, excadrill, bisharp and magnezone) - it's just a coverage move.
tl;dr: If you think that mega metagross is just a slightly better regular metagross you're insanely deluded.

That's assuming lopunny has already mega evolved. Generally megagross will have mega evolved first since lopunny tends to come out late game while megagross can come in more easily since it actually has bulk. But, this doesn't even matter - it's just one pokemon used as an example.
Megagross does enough damage to function well in OU, nailing a good amount of OHKOs on top tier threats like keldeo, landorus forms, the lati twins etc. and having enough damage output to 2HKO most of the tier.

Drill run, let's you hit Steel types.

You can support it with hazard control and by having something to deal with lando/skarm, it's main checks. You also need something to take priority so mbeedrill is more suited on balance teams with pivots such as rotomw and lando.

Slow volturners also help, letting it come in for free.

It was a mixture of aegis, deosharp and it's inability to keep pace w/ the current meta. being an offensive mon weak to common attacking types in a meta this fast was it's problem. Not the dmg output. If you're really that bad why are you in this thread?

Metagross dropped because he has garbage STABs and weak coverage leaving him walled by basically any defensive pokemon in the tier with the exception of Ttar. It was never his speed, it's that he's an offensive pokemon that ironically can't seem to kill anything. He should have been UU early gen V.

Psychic is a nice offensive type this gen, you can't deny that. Greninja, landorus, and to a lesser extent thundurus and manaphy all run psychic moves as coverage. Most psychic types actually use their STAB psychic moves over coverage options (excluding outliers like mew).
Meanwhile, steel give megagross STAB tough claws bullet punch.
As for weak coverage, you're talking out your ass. Earthquake and ice punch are both great coverage moves that secure OHKOs on multiple top tier threats, and he has options like hammer arm and thunder punch too. The only coverage move megagross misses is fire punch.
His non-mega's tier in gen V is completely irrelevant.

How do I build a team around this guy for doubles? I'm currently using him with t-tar to get the sand force boost and heatran to switch into ice, fairy, and dragon attacks. I'm thinking on an aerodactyl with tailwind and smackdown but idk about the rest.

Not to mention hammer arm isn't strictly better than eq - not every mon weak to ground runs balloon, and if they do it's not hard to hit them once with any hit.
M-gross can run a few different things, and eq/jolly are both definitely viable.

spDef wow taunt talon has a nice matchup vs stall teams while still having a strong presence against offensive teams. It's good.
I don't have much experience with bulky mega gyarados, but from what I've seen it needs quite a lot of speed investment regardless (eg. 216 evs are needed to get it to outspeed greninja at +1).
As for mega chomp, personally I like max speed to get one use out of garchomp's above average speed, but I don't see why max hp can't work.
Modest ttar sounds like garbage though. Ice beam and fire blast are used to lure certain mons, but they're fairly common so what happens when your opponent simply keeps in something that would take neutral damage? Best to have something that hits hard (modest ttar doesn't).

I don't like how it's mega form is useless. I try to compare it to regular bulky chomp, but it has Rough Skin and Rocky Helmet.
Or Bulky Zard X, but it has WoW.

M-chomp has dragon tail. It's only way of recovering is rest, and the only status it can cause (that's not a secondary effect) is toxic. I've seen some dragon tail mega garchomps though, they're not the worst thing ever so if you can support it right I'm sure it'll work

Sadly it's walled by one of the best and most common pokemon in OU, landorus-T. Fell stinger is terrible because your opponent is simply going to revenge it with priority/scarf/something that takes a +2 attack like lando-T, or it's just going to sit there being a waste of a moveslot. the difference between the two is that chomp trades a good ability and an item for actually having a physical movepool to abuse its secondary stab and monstrous attack stat

dragon/round is also a much better defensive typing. Has a stealth rock resist and isn't walk to any common priority moves outside of ice shard.

So I decided to build a team using Clefable(favorite fairy) and M-Heracross(never used it) And I came up with this.
I put Heatran on because it seems to support most of Clefairy's threats and allowed me to have rocks since MegaCross forces a lot of switches Wobbuffet is there to trap something for MegaCross to set up on or to KO choiced/encored attackers. Starmie because I needed a spinner and Lando-T for a basic scarfer.
My problem is Landorus-I. I have 0 safe switch ins since Wob is 2hko'd by Earth Power and if its CM thenI lose since Starmie can't KO it after plus 1. Next issue is Bisharp. I've been encountering a lot with low kick lately and it's been destroying my Heatran on switch in

I know none of those moves are learned by tyrunt line, but bulbapedia lists moves affected by sheer force that no pokemon with sheer force learn. Serebii and Bulbapedia list conflicting information regarding this: Serebii says Hyper Fang is affected, but bug bite and super fang are not, while bulbapedia says bug bite is, but super fang and hyper fang are not.

I'm from sage, we have an ability that's a clone of strong jaw, and we are trying to go through and specify all the mechanics/programming stuff with all of our custom abilities, and as part of that we need to know what moves are programmed to work with strong jaw, since for us, some of our pokemon with it might get those moves.

Fire coverage is redundant with Flying and Ground, it's mostly there so that ypu can hit on the special side. Or you might want to swap EQ for a Dragon STAB, who knows. Also the extra EVs from speed, you might want to put those on the secondary attack instead of HP

There are safe switchins for lando-i like cress/blissey/spdef mandi but they're are relatively large momentum killers. Sharp shouldn't be that big of a problem since you have hera, you might wanna run jolly and remove sub for sd. I guess sub has it's uses, but it seems kinda shit. maybe run sitrus wobbu and add some hp investment on it, so it can dodge the 2hko w/ rocks up, but it still gets fucked by knock variants if you mispredict.

Currently breeding for a bold (or calm?) Piplup in Diamont. Is there any way to quickly and efficiently check IVs? I don't plan to get a pentaperfect or anything like that, but I'd like it to have atleast some neat defensive IVs.

I usually do it with the auto-level thingy and then use an IV calc, but I don't think an auto level place (like battle frontier) exists in DP.

It depends on your set. I use sub dd as it lets me set up extremely fast without having to get some chip damage on ttar or some other steels. I believe 136 in speed is optimal. Though I do concede that sub roost ddance is the best mence set. after plus one it 2hko's just about everything after rocks. since it's so bulky it can set up on a ridiculous amount of shit. enough speed to outspeed scarfexca which is 302 should be fine. the digusting thing is you can set up multiple ddances on exca with that hp investment as rockslide doesn't even 2hko. same goes for lando and just about everything else in ou

Ferro and av azu are relatively decent stops, in oras ferro is p muchb all you have though. Rain is easily manageable if you're prepared for it but otherwise you're just gonna get fucked It's just a matter of having mons bulky enough to take a hit and ko back or status. thundy is also nice to fuck up kingdra/tops once one is statused the team is half as threatening.
