Are Fossilmon part rock type because of some fusion between fossil and DNA, or were most Pokemon in the pre-human past simply just rock type? Or are all the Fossilmon seen in the games just coincidentally rock type?

Pretty sure it's due to the fossilized rock. Aerodactyl would have been flying, Tyrantrum a T-rex (so probably just dragon).

However, I think the RSE fossils are genuinely rock-type.

They leave more complete remains because of the organic rock tissue. There were non rock types, but they didn't leave any rock with genetic info behind.

That's a lot of what I'm feeling too. Remove the Rock typing, and that's probably what that mon was in prehistoric times.

Exceptions would be Tirtouga line and the Cranidos line, which looks to be inherently rock to begin with. Maybe the Shieldon line

That is not what he meant, do you into basic comprehension?

It's well known that removing the rock type from fossils is what would reveal their true form (and would be a great way to give primal reversion to fossil mons and make them useful)

There aren't that many fossil mons because being rock type preserved the DNA and organic rick tissue the pokemon had. If they weren't rock type, the fossils would just be minerals in the shape of whatever died, like real fossils.

Did you read the post? He thinks they use shitton of pokemon to blindly try to reconstruct what they THOUGHT the pokemon would have been like. Rock types are already rick, so the tissues and DNA are preserved better, since its just a rock getting fossilized, anyway.

Aslo, amber isn't even a fossil. Its tree sap that's been hardened. Whatever piece of aerodactyl inside the amber wouldn't have to be turned rock to be reconstructed from a non mineral preserver.
