I absolutely cant stand the your 'friends', they chase you all game being all gay and shit. what happened to the old badass rivals that actually felt good to beat? like Gary or that ginger from gold/silver/crystal.
i know its a kid's game but shit gamefreak, get yo shit together.
other than that it's pretty good

Gary was great because you hated him because he was better than you in every way. He has like, a hot mom, and a hot sister, and a hot grandpa, he drives around in a car with cheerleaders, gets 10 badges before you can get 8, just everything goes well for him.
Silver was okay. Much better than any rival after him, but not as good as Gary. He wasn't really a threat, he just mistreated Pokemon, and even as a kid I knew that was a lame way to go about your rivals personality.

I had previously been out of the series for a while, but it's kind of ridiculous that almost no trainers had more than three Pokemon. They should have upped this number and nerfed the Exp Share.

Having to face lower-ranked members of the Battle Chateau again and again as you rise to higher ranks.

Tank controls in Lumiose City.

Team Flare could've been awesome if they emphasized the their adherence to Social Darwinism more, and if there was more apparent class-conflict / resource shortages in Kalos. As it stands, they're a really silly team that just seems to be evil for the sake of being evil, and it's really hard to really hate these guys.

A feeling in general that things were rushed. There's an inordinate amount of areas that are inaccessible for no real reason, unless they're saving them for X2 / Y2 / Z. Why can't we visit the race track on Route 22?

I feel Bug should've done double damage to Fairy, but that's really more of a personal nitpick.

Actually, overall I really like the game.

Fairy type is not only very OP made the type chart even worse than it already was, and the designs of them are shitty and non-fairy like on the whole.

Kalos is one of my least favourite regions. The only things it did right were customization (which still sucked ass for guys), the Pokemon, and megas.

The entire region sucks Kanto's dick to the point where its sickening. I mean fuck, we didn't even get a legendary trio not counting XYZ legends.

The "rivals" are fucking awful. So boring and annoying. I've given friendly rivals a chance before because I frankly enjoyed Cheren and Bianca in Gen 5, but in Gen 6, the rivals are goddamn everywhere just holding the game up.

The music is kind of bland and forgettable, but kudos to Xerneas/Yveltal battle theme, the champion theme, and that one route.

The towns and cities (except for fucking Lumiose) were actually pretty nice albeit forgettable. Laverre and Anistar are great.

Basically, everything felt rushed and boring, but it's not all bad.

I give shauna a pass simply for being the first rival/friend character in a boss dungeon that I haven't wanted to get the fuck out of my face because they were in the way, the part where shes goes (taken from bulbapedo)

It's nice that she at least knew she was slowing you down, and the first one where I was actually forgiving because they admitted they were a shit. Like fuck it, come along, we'll go catch a giant deathbird together.

The stuff with Trevor and Tierno is usually really grating but at least I can see the point of introducing mechanics to kids new to the game.
I'm not playing Pokemon to get a dating sim, I'm playing it because it's an adventure game. Shauna is such an artificially injected waifu "character" it makes me sick. Can we please not have this bullshit seep into Pokemon?

I like these moments of unity the best. More than anything else, if they're supposed to actually be your friends, they should fucking be by your side once in a while.

BW2 did this great. You got to team up with Hugh to beat the shit out of Plasma on multiple occasions. Sure, he's more revenge-driven than anything, but it felt good to actually feel like you had backup once in a while.

Unrelated to rivals, but on that same line of thought, I fucking LOVED the end of the maingame in BW1. Just traipsing over to N's Castle, like y'know just gonna save the world AGAIN, no big deal. But then suddenly Lenora is there (or was Skyla the first one you saw? can't recall) and you're all "wait, what?" Turns out the Leaders actually got off their ass for once to protect their fuckin' region. Granted you don't actually fight alongside them in a proper multibattle at any point; that woulda been cool. But still, like I said - it's about feeling backed up. These dudes are actually doing something to save their region from being fucked up, and I think that's awesome.

whether its true or not these posts obviously took a lot into consideration and explain a lot of the things wrong with x/y. games were sounding much better at the start

besides the story, xy had expectations that other new gens didnt go through. this made it shit because basically GF tried to cater to every demographic possible, including those that probably stopped playing pokemon a while ago

Then you have like in gen 1, you scale the silph co. building to fight giovanni and suddenly your rivals there almost several steps away from giovannis room like "lol I don't care about team rocket I just want to attack you while you're tired" and when you beat him he just goes off expecting you to do everything. Problem is this is a pokemon game, and by definition, all grunts must be bumbling idiots. Which is why this is only the leaders vision and nobody else knew a fucking thing about the plan beyond 'We live, you all die.' Team Rocket and to an extent team plasma fit the bill. Team Rockets goal was literally steal pokemon and make money through intimidation and force. Plasma's main goal was the liberation of pokemon (and stuff about a legendary king and junk) but they still had the same thuggish mentality and ultimately sought control through brute force and intimidation.

They'd always show up all cheery and annoying, and Serena would have the same reaction as me: run the fuck away. The difference is, Serena could actually get away and train alone while these faggots would follow ME across entire routes. I related to Serena's lonerism and also resented her a little, since she did what I could never do: play the game in peace.

Beating Serena time and time again felt bad because I was basically beating the person I wanted to be in the game.
