Why was fairy type such a god damn failure? It didn't nerf dragons, except for hydreigon, and more nerfed fighting and dark types.

dark type didnt need the type nerf, although at least they lost the steel resist. but fighting was spammable as fuck last gen, and psychic types were shit counters because they are shit in general, and flying types just got stone edges in the face when they tried to counter fighting

They should have made Ghost strong against Fairies, just so my bros Sableye and Spiritomb could defend against it.

Psychic should at least resist it too, and maybe be SE as well. That way Medicham and Gallade don't get fucked by them.

Because GF once again failed at identifying the real problem. The Dragon type itself is not all that dominant. It only has three significant resists and is only SE on itself. The reason the metagame is littered with dragons is that Dragon pokemon themselves tend to be very good due to base stats and movepools.

Well no, half the problem is that offensively what matters is neutral hits, not super effective ones. Dragon was a god tier stab because if your opponent had no steel type the game was "press Outrage, win". Why do you think teams commonly ran two steel types before gen VI?

It was strong because only one type resisted it. It was highly spammable. The best stabs are the ones with few resists, not the once that are SE on lots of types.
