Wow. Yeah, those too.

Gen II isn't entirely forgettable. I have some definite favorites from Johto, two of which (Azumarill and Ampharos) are very common on my teams in other games. But a lot of them do seem to be just Pokedex filler.

Could probably pick up a few of those in any generation though. I hear Gen IV actually had Water-types, but I don't believe it.

I think about Stantler whenever I get to Ecruteak. It's who I like to grind on for a few levels before Morty, he gives good experience.
Girafarig, now there's a dude I rarely see and barely think about.

That is probably exactly what went down when I first played Gold. I still remember being totally stumped when Flamethrower made the "not very effective" sound, and then being wowed that it was a Rock type.
