With all the talk and concerns over the quality of the figures, I think it's quite easy to see where Nintendo needs to improve with them. Of course it could always be a shit batch and better one will be released overtime but we'll have to wait and see.

The way they've made these is that they match the Smash Artwork and while this is good on paper it isn't so great in practice. Lots of the artworks for characters invoke the jumping or leaning forward, this would make the Amiibo unbalanced and of a poor quality. However, to rectify this they've made the characters stand on massive chunky pieces of plastic if this is the case.

I think that when Amiibo come out for more games the quality will improve to a suitable level. It's not really Nintendo's fault in concept, they were just overly ambitious for its first run.

I agree that the figures with massive blocks on them look like shit and the drop in detail is disappointing but, it's better to have a more well balanced dissension here rather than in /v/ which is pretty much console war shit posting across the board. At least here everyone owns at least one nintendo console and aren't just trying to bait to start an argument.

Been meaning to post an amiibo thread either here or in /v/, but I keep forgetting. Thank you OP.

I plan on getting all of them eventually, even of the fighters that I'm not particularly fond of like "Princess" Marth. I pre-ordered my five favorites of the first batch (Pikachu, Link, Yoshi, Villager, and Samus) and will be either buying or receiving the others over Christmas. Same with Series 2.

While I'm here, what are those of you who plan on buying more than just one or two doing with them while not using them? Displaying them on a shelf? That's my plan, but I have no good shelves, and no ideas.

Some pictures would be appreciated.

Those ones should be fine. From the recent pictures of Samus I've seen she looks good, Greninja has three points touching the ground so little to no supports there and Mega Man's design is simple like Mario's so it should be harder to fuck up than, say, Shulk.
