I've never used a Chimecho and I've always been curious about it, but I don't think this will be the game to use it in. 2rare4m3, it would be much more convenient to get one in Gen 4 when I get around to replaying one of those.

I've genned six hexaperfect replicas of my original RSE team. And since four of them can Mega evolve, I plan on sending their Megastones from XY with them. I plan to sweep the crap out of Hoenn. If it's going to be bambi-tier easy I'm just going to go in all chocks loose.

Yes. Everything in XY is available in ORAS, not the other way around. I imagine we'll be able to transfer the Mega Stones, having to find them again seems silly.

If I didn't get a shiny torchic via GTS and want a mega Sceptile, I wouldn't be doing a three-starter team. If I wasn't doing my three-starter team, I would without a doubt use Chimecho as well. Psywave/Psychic/Confusion/Uproar in Emerald, couldn't do shit but loved him anyway.

I'd actually like some recommendations because I'm completely out of ideas. I don't want to use transported Pokemon during my first playthrough and I'd like to be able to find all my team members before the fifth gym because I think it's pointless to start adding new team members when I've already beaten most of the game. In the picture is my current team in my Emerald version that I recently bought. I wanted to try some new Mons so I picked up Shiftry, Torkoal, and Solrock because I had never used them in any game and they were all bro-tier Mons, especially Solrock. In ORAS, I'd also like to try as many new Mons as possible while keeping my team as balanced as possible (as little type overlaps as possible). I really like having a Grass/Fire/Water core, but that's not absolutely mandatory. Here's some additional info.

Hoenn Mons that I haven't used used before and could consider having in my team:

>Breloom
>Exploud
>Mawile
>Aggron
>Swalot
>Claydol

Hoenn Mons that I like very much and would like to have in my team but are not mandatory:

>Shiftry
>Solrock

I was thinking of Sceptile as my starter but that's up for debate. My problem with Hoenn has always been the fact that in order to get Good Rod and therefore most of the Water-types you have to use Surf, which means that you probably already have a Water-type Pokemon with you. Hopefully in ORAS you could get Good Rod somewhere during the first half of the game. So, any recommendations for fellow anon?

It doesn't matter, you get one as a present at the weather institute.

If you want hard mode use Masquerain, Swalot, or Claydol.
Breloom, Aggron, and Exploud are easy mode.

Swalot doesn't seem too bad, it has a great movepool. I'd really like to try Claydol because I like its design but I get the feeling that it's going to be a huge pain in the ass to train Baltoy all the way to level 36 with those crappy attacking stats. My team could be Sceptile, Camerupt, [surfer], Swalot, and Aggron, but I'm a little worried about that 3/5 Ground weakness, although it probably isn't a huge problem in-game. I just wish I could catch Wailmer early in the game because I've always wanted to try Wailord as my Water-type

If I'm going to use a non Water-type as my surfer, it would probably be Exploud because it can actually make use of Surf in battle. I could always go for Tentacruel but then I'd have 4 Pokemon that are weak to Ground, which seems kinda nasty.

No. Hoenn was designed so that shedinja wouldn't be a free win. There are occasions where it does well Like Emerald's Wallace fight but for the most part it only works against one or two pokemon on eash relevant trainer's teams

I'm gonna use a Froslass myself, so quite literally a special snowflake. Had luck with her in-game in 4th gen and competitively 5th/6th gen and seeing as her pre-evo originated in Hoenn, it seems fitting.

Claydol is great in game, I suggest you run a ''Power'' moveset:
Cosmic Power
Ancient Power
Earth Power
Hidden Power (I will be using Dark cuz of perfect IVs Baltoy I hatched recently)

The AI, no matter who it is, is programmed to use moves that will land on the opposing pokemon, or switch out on a pokemon that can.
If it's helpless, then you get a free win. If it knows a move that can hit or inflict a damaging status on Shedinja, you'll lose. That said, there are plenty of teams Shedinja can solo in-game.

so why does every Mightyena keep spamming Odor Sleuth despite me not using a ghost type and despite the fact that IT'S A FUCKING DARK TYPE AND IT HAS DARK MOVES THAT CAN USE, or why does Oddish keep spamming Sweet Scent when i'm using a water/ground type instead of using a grass move?

things short, the pokemon AI is a fail in every aspect, trust me i played and replayed all games multiple times, it never failed me to surprise how incompetent GF is at creating a decent artificial intelligence
