Rather than being strong and bulky or strong and fast, it was neither. Gamefreak instead opting to put all its points into both offences for mixed attacking, leaving it an offensive pokemon that's both slow and frail. The irony being that because of its low BST and the fact that what's considered good speed/defence is much lower than what's considered good attack, both attacking stats are subpar anyway.

So it's a pokemon that's frail, slow, supposed to be a mixed attacker but its offences aren't high enough to be usable anyway.

when a mon's mega is guaranteed ohko'd from full health with a 100 base 252+ spa non-stab water pulse, there's something seriously wrong with it

Tried it in trick room and it still sucks. that 105 Sp.Atk just isn't worth it.
Also: >Giving the mega sheer force when its "signature" move doesn't get boosted by it, also can't abuse life orb

He largely fits the trend most gen III pokemon followed, it's just he had the utility to break the mold.

It's shit just like the rest of the gen III pokemon except for the starters and legedaries. Most gen III pokemon are useless which is why they got the most megas, they all needed fixing.

Tried a doubles team with only Primal Groudon and Mega Camerupt. Mega Camerupt wrecks shit under the sun after a turn of Growth (see: OHKOs quite a lot of things, surprisingly), and it can be fairly bulky too - it just needs preparations and support taken into account if you want it to be any good.

It's a symptom of being a pre-Attack Split pokemon with a typing that caters to both physical and special attack. Not that it was spectacular back then either, but I think GF just tried to make sure that it was a competent attacker with both of its stabs.

Mega Manetric ,Mawile, Gardevoir, and Medicham all got really good competitive wise.

The only ones who didnt was banette, aggron, and absol. The majority got way better so care to explain.

It was either slow and frail mixed attackers or extremely shitty non-evolving dex fillers. Part of the reason why RSE is considered to be one of the harder gens is because the Pokemon selection is just so bad lol

No i'm saying that even though Salamence's stat spread followed the pattern of every other gen III pokemon, its BST is so high that it actually works on it. Rather than being slow and frail with no power, it's fast and strong coming off both offences with usable bulk for an offensive pokemon.

Lack of an evolution, like Mamoswine was to Piloswine. Also, Simple would've been nice, instead of Magma Armor.
For the evolution, I was thinking of something like Titanotylopus/Gigantocamelus and with new moves like Superpower, Wild Charge and of course Flare Blitz.
