Many, many pokemon can OHKO this piece of shit. It's not a check when the pokemon in question is a glass cannon that's easy to break.
You don't even need anything supereffective against it to OHKO it, either. It has shit HP and defenses, and there are many priority moves/bulk that can kill it in an instant.

Mega Absol is viable in UU and even a little useful in OU. Works as a great anti-lead. Strong, fast. physical attacker that can't be burned/paralyzed/intimidated because muh magic bounce. Fantastic late game sweeper. Can even run a very solid mixed attacker set. And beautiful, what's not to like?

What is talonflame, greninja, thundurous, mega manectric ect.

Pokemon that can be easily killed in one hit, just as viable. Mega absol is a great anti lead and a late game sweeper.

anything reasonably fast can clean late game, if you want an example of good megas that can do this same job better look to aerodactyl or lopunny.

Anyways, Talonflame is only OU because of Gale Wings, numbnuts.
Greninja has protean and is hella fast for a non-mega.
Thundurous? Sure, it can be OHKOd if you play like a retard on crack. Also, again, not a mega.
Mega Manectric? It's faster and all around better than Mega Absol. Has alright defenses, unlike M Absol. Is one of the best volt switches in the game, has pretty cool movepool. So it does Absol a shitton better than absol can do.

Your bro is shit. There is literally only one kind of person I can think of who would defend edgemon this vehemently.

I never understood why it had such crappy stats to begin with. They made it out to be a legendary type Pokemon in the movies then shit all over it stat wise. I guess thats gen 3 for you.

It has an ability it can barely use due to this frailty

It doesn't even hit that hard, unless you can get a chance to use SD, but again, frail.

Only 75 base speed before M-Evolve, which only makes the frailty issue worse

tl;dr it's too frail and doesn't have any remarkable qualities to make up for it

Giving it a mega with that ability was a slap to the face. Hell making it Dark/flying with gale wings wouldnt even of saved it.

It just was always a to slow and to frail pokemon whose only redeeming things were its attack and sucker punch.
