In fact, I'd say it was even better than today, because stall was more common and it could completely fuck over stuff like Gliscor thanks to Magic Guard. Immunity to entry hazards also meant that it completely cockblocked any of those prankster/assist/roar gimmick teams.
It was also a potent special attacker with a Life Orb. It could OHKO a bunch of stuff like Ferrothorn, Scizor, Garchomp, etc. on the switch with correct prediction thanks to its fantastic coverage.
It was great all-around, and few people knew how to deal with it. Now it's everywhere, it lost its Ghost immunity, people only use some annoying Cosmic Power/Stored Power set, and it dies to Bullet Punch. The shift from stall/mixed to hyper offense also hurt it.
