Actually, I gave it a second thought : post-E4 feature does make sense, especially considering they want you to go on with the story. Having someone hop on a bird as soon as he can and flying right away to the E4 wouldn't make sense. What I find silly is then to have put some wild pokemons in the sky.
Trainers make sense, but unless this is a way to show pokemons from other regions ( putting aside this thing with the legendaries), I don't see why I would want to fly and suddenly meet a level 20-something Pelipper, already widely available on the land. What I mean by that is that they could maybe use this to change some pokemon's locations : I believe the example pokemon was a Swablu the trainer had encountered. What if you couldn't find Swablus at the North of the Meteor Cave anymore, but had to go up in the sky instead? And, if that happened, would you have to wait for post-endgame?
