Best and worst examples were in gen 2; baby pokemon have no right to exist, but we got kingdra, slowking, and Porygon2. Gen4 gave us a fuckload of useless ones (apart from Porygon-Z), and gen 5 went that extra step further and gave us eviolite which made Magmortar and the rest of them completely worthless in favor of their now tanky and faster prevos.
